    Hi!
So I just got my Tacoma a few days ago (yay!!) and I'm ready to start buying parts for her. Wheels and suspension are one of the first things I want to do, but I'm really overwhelmed by all of the options and combinations, and hoping to get even more overwhelmed and bombarded by all of the differing opinions in this community xD.
So I plan to be using her for what I guess I would define as minimally aggressive overlanding. I'm a biologist and I do a lot of field work in the mountains, so I'm planning to rig her up with a rooftop tent and the whole shebang. Essentially, I'll be taking her on pretty rough and steep dirt roads, and on no roads at all. I don't plan on pushing her over anything crazy, rock crawling or hauling a** like a madman over rough terrain--I really don't need the best money can buy. But I'm not in it just for lift, either (though a few inches would be nice;)--the driver isn't sheerly aesthetics.
Even if you don't have advice down to the brand--what parts should I make sure my kit has? How much of a lift is recommended for overlanding--and what size tires make sense for that? Any good videos or pre-existing threads you think I should check out?
    Thank you!!!

tl;dr looking for quality suspension for mild overlanding

Congrats on the new truck, if I were you I would look into the Bilstein 6112s and 5160s. The 6112s will net you around 2-2.5 inches of lift. Pair that with a decent leaf pack like OME or Dobinsons to support the weight of your tent and rack. Get yourself an ECGS bushing aswell. For your tires, Something in the 265/75/16-285/75/16 range makes the most sense.

I enjoy the 5100s, they ride well with or without weight. The rear leaf springs I wanted were sold out and back ordered for 2 months.

There is a local leaf spring shop that custom made me a spring pack, it rides very very good. I sit about 3.5" unloaded. And it was about $150 cheaper then any aftermarket spring on the market.
