I recently bought a 14 Tacoma. My first Toyota, I am very pleased. I'm looking to install a lift, a 2.5 should fit my needs. I've leaning towards the Pro Comp kits.
    Here's my question....
A few guys at work mentioned that I should stay away from kits that don't come with upper control arms. The arms are needed to keep the cv joints from premature wear.

What kits should I get? I want a reliable and built well lift kit.
    Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to TW.

Procomp kits tend to ride harsh. As for CV joint UCAs are unrelated.

    EDIT:

UCA's help with the alignment. You should be able to get an alignment with a 2.5 inch lift and stock uca's. If you do a 3 inch lift there is a good chance you will need them for a correct alignment

The new upper control arms are to help with your alignment after a 3" lift. Nothing to do with the CVs.

As far as 3" lifts go, pretty much everyone will recommend OME.

Thanks for the info guys! A follow up question... Would installing a lift cause premature wear on the cv's?

    3 inch toytec lift
    ^x2 on the discount.

    I have this kit

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/3-lift-kit-with-Bilstein-5100-Height-Adj-Coilovers_p_364.html

And I couldn't be happier. The only time it is really rough is on washboarded roads.

OME front to back. If you wheel it you shouldn't worry about parts failing, that's part of the journey.
