2017 TRD offroad Tacoma with 10k miles that sounds like 100k with constant squeezing of the suspension. Looked under at the suspension and found my rear leaf springs flattened to the point of inversion. I haven't done any real hard off road in and the service people didn't say anything last week. Is this normal? (Pictures are right and left rear suspension)20170521_182158.jpg 20170521_182302.jpg

    Welcome to TW!

There have been problems with the leaves even in the last gen Tacoma.

I can't be specific sorry. I'll search around the forum and see if there are other threads discussing the problem.

Yup, normal. Stock leaf springs are garbage.

After a few camping trips mine were in a nice, upside-down U shape.

Throw them in the trash and replace with Dakars or All Pro leaf packs

Yup they are junk . I was fortunate to have mine done under recall which they beefed them up more .. I'm sure Toyota would replace under warranty ? Your still in time frame.

Don't replace garbage with garbage, upgrade to a full leaf pack if funds allow. i added sumosprings for the time being as i am not ready to commit to and cant afford a lift yet.

Wouldn't the rear of your truck sit lower because of this. What effect would add-a-leaf have on this symptom?

AAL could help but if he is carrying any consistent weight a full leaf pack like the dakars or all pro would be the way to go. i will likely do the all pro expos as i have a cap, drawer system, 65q rtic cooler, cvt awing and prinsu rack (on the way) and intend on adding full skids and sliders soon too.

Do NOT get All Pro expos. I have them, and two leaves in a single pack snapped in half after two months. All Pro's service has been atrocious. I finally got the replacement pack after a MONTH of endless headache dealing with All Pro, and I still haven't received the promised cheque for labour cost of re-install, that was supposed to arrive with the leaf packs a week ago. They are a NIGHTMARE to deal with.

Damn and the Dakars squeak like hell I've heard.

Maybe check with Wheelers Offroad, they offer some various progressive full leaf packs.

Yes, the rear will sit lower with flattened/inverted leaf springs. An AAL will help bring it back up a bit, but I'd vote to replace the entire leaf pack. OME Dakars, Alcans, Deavers, etc.

If I have further issues or want to swap packs completely, I'll definitely be exploring other options. Probably Deavers or a full custom pack from Alcan. Yeah, I've also heard about Dakar's squeaking.

5100s/OME 888s. Dakar leaf pack. Total Chaos UCAs. DeMello Sliders. BAMF Recessed Grille. Prinsu Cabrack and Toprack.
I got Dakars about six weeks ago and have done a couple of off road trips since then. So far, they are very quiet and no squeaking at all. They recently added more of the teflon pads between the leafs and seems to be helping.
