    Greetings Toyota enthusiasts,

I recently purchased a decent set of 17in wheels of off an Off-road trim 4runner, stock tires still on with decent tread still on to last me a season or 2.

I installed the wheels at home to save money on an alignment at a local shop, rather than having them mount and do alignment.

My question, my stock OR 16s still have my original tpms. Are they supposed to get put on to my new (old) wheels, or would the replacements have their own sensors?

I know this may be a dumb question, and please feel free to roast me. I know little about anything.

I believe you would have to ask the person who sold you the wheels. It would just depend on whether or not they left the TPMS sensors on the wheels. Although I’m not sure that TPMS sensors from a different vehicle would register on the Tacoma.

The 4runner TPMS wont work with the Tacoma, you'll need new sensors, or swap them.

Or just live with the light on.

You will want to reuse your original sensors onto your new wheels.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I discovered this morning my truck is still reading the sensors on my 16s, so I will need to get them swapped over. That's a project for when I get new tires, still got a bit of tread on the 4runner tires.
For now I'll live with light, and just check pressures the good ol fashioned way.
