Howzit everyone... Just took delivery of my spankin' new Baja Taco. It was pricey, but I was able to trade in my '09 Subaru OB Ltd and break even. I've only purchased new vehicles since '06, as my cars since 1994 were all beaters: '73 VW Bug, '87 Hyundai, '90 GTi, '93 Cavalier, '87 Cavalier, '96 Escort, '00 Neon, '91 Accord.....then my first brand new car was an '06 WRX, which I traded up for a '09 Outback......and now I have my Taco.

I was originally wanting an '04 Tacoma Double Cab, but the price of them were so high for a decent one with under 100,000 miles on it, that I decided to buy new to take advantage of the lower APR. I also liked the idea of maxing it out to 72 months. Granted, it's almost the price of a house note...but it's my only guilty pleasure!

I have a beautiful wife, and have no reason to oogle other women...so instead, I oogled vehicles.....until now.

While in Iraq, I was online occasionally at clubWRX, and SubaruOutback.org, and was schooled on all things Subaru. Now it's time for a slight change, hence the Taco. I noticed their resilience while in Iraq, when i'd see the SF guys rolling up in them. Tacos have been proven, tried and true by SF and terrorists alike, it's good enough for me.

I look forward to learning a lot while here. Thanks all.

Hey man, I just bought the same truck (going through paperwork process now), mine is in Ohio and I am in Georgia, they do not have the 6 speed here! Is your red or black, manual or auto? I traded in my 2008 EVO X, I told them to put a box of tissues in the passenger seat of the Taco as I will miss the EVO a lot, I hope the Taco will dry my tears away, it is a beautiful truck and can not wait to add some more stuff to it, really wanting an arb front & rear bumper and a winch and lights to start out!!!
    Semper Fi man!! :oldglory:

Thanks all for the warm welcomes. We got it on Monday from Joe Myers in Houston. It's mine, but I say "we" as the wifey is the one that let me get it. Traded my 09 Outback with 70,000 miles for it, and they paid off the balance of $13,500 for the OB. The new truck is a black automatic 4 door short bed Baja.

Listed for $37,812....but financed $44009.29 ......total of payments over the 72 month at 5.65% puts me at $700 a month with $0 down. With finance charges, etc...this amounts to a whopping $52,461.75!

I will be paying $700 a month on this for the next 6 years, but it's well worth it when you figure in the Tacoma reliability. My payments are $351.70 every two weeks starting 30AUG 12.

I also opted to get free repair /replacement service from any Toyota dealer in America if something were to break...or if tires / rims needed.

Marc Roy was the salesman at Joe Myers in Houston. I had a choice between red and black. I got the black with the black stealth design, as the red and black seemed to call too much attention to the truck.

The sticker price on these trucks is usually not very negotiable as they seem to be in extremely high demand, though I did get military discount.......

Yes, it does cost a lot to have the toy of your dreams, but one must also realize that a Tacoma is a truck you can use as a daily driver for the remainder of your life .... if you so choose, or ....i guess - 300,000 miles or 10 years at least.

I'm not allowed to spend any money on it until it's paid off.....so I gotta get it paid off fast as I really want that supercharger! (I have PTSD and mild TBI, so my wife handles the finances, even though we both bring home the bacon).http://www.joemyerstoyota.com/new/Toyota/2012-Toyota-Tacoma-7ea2a4590a0a006400dd0f874262578a.htm

Hey Max, and welcome. I have a 2012 Baja (red) here in San Antonio. The dealer was a pain in the ass on the price. I did pretty well on the price (hey wanted my trade and I am a repeat customer), but because there are only going to be 700 made, they are being pretty stingy on discounts.

Regardless, I am sure you are loving the Baja like I am. It is an awesome truck.

Hey man is there a list somewhere that shows how many of each were made? For instance mine is a black 6 speed doublecab, how many were made compared to a black or red auto or red 6 speed.
    Thanks
