Preaching to the choir.. If it weren't for this thread, I doubt I would have gone out, and the volunteers who first heard Nick and made tonight happen were on a first time meetup from a local hiking forum doing the same thing that TW members have done. The world is full of cynicism and bad news, but indifference and apathy are not options in my book. Do SOMETHING if you can.

I had to piss of the wife who had movie plans for us tonight, and she thought I was crazy to go out looking at sunset/night on my night off from school. Add to that the mocking on the radio of amateur searchers and I started off the trip feeling pretty dumb for even being there.

Awesome thread OP.. great job getting this going. It's a credit to the forums and it's members.

Ya sorry, wrong choice of words. I just thought being able to contribute would be nice. I like being outdoors and I like to think I have a pretty good eye for tracking/hunting.

I agree with fox.. it IS cool. Sorry if this sounds cheezy, but its just the beer talking.

    • If the person is found alive, that's a really great feeling.
    • If you find a body, you at least bring closure to the family and the ability to move on with time.
    • If you find nothing, at least the family knows everything that could be done, was done.

No matter what, its exercise/training/experience and a better option than doing nothing. Cool may not be the best word, but it's positive all around.. and I will take any excuse to go check out trails in my new taco. lol

Oh well, so much for the volunteers getting credit for the find!

"Search and rescue crews reportedly got a tip that at least one of the young hikers may have been spotted, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Lt. Tim Rainwater of the Orange County Sheriff's Department said all he could confirm was that one of the hikers had been found about 9 p.m. He had no other identification.

About 40 official rescue workers searched for Cendoya and Jack today, Orange County sheriff's Lt. Jason Park said. Many other volunteers joined that search, including two who became lost and had to be tracked down, Park said."

I guess being an anonymous tip giver was all Ted and his friends did tonight. Ugh.. glad they still managed to make ALL the volunteers out to be a bunch of imbeciles.

She's still out there. I'm hoping having a position for one will lead to the other being found. I'm still hoping for the best, although I have a really bad feeling.

Crazy they where not together. Maybe once he's treated, he can shed some light of where she may be.

That's probably why they told you not to say anything when you found Nick. They didn't want to give credit to volunteers cause it would make them look bad.

I can see how they were separated. One of them may have went for help and ended up separating from each other. Unfortunately in todays society everyone's guilty until proven innocent.

Info is coming out that when nick was found he was very confused (which is normal for extreme dehydration) but he was confused and saying his female companion had already been rescued and didn't know what all of the helicopters were for...

I still think there is something fishy going on.....

Why would they split up/leave a girl out there ALONE?

Please God prove me wrong. If they dont find her today and anybody is going out there let me know.

I think everyone's "fishy" radar is perked up until she is found. I can say he was thirsty, and was trying to figure out what the helicopters were doing.

Right now there is just too many questions. I haven't heard that he was injured, and there is water all over the place. More pieces are going to have to come out for this to make sense.

Hypothermia and severe dehydration do funny things to people. I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet.

You should call kfi and tell him the people who found nick were volunteers... Make sure he knows he's a tool.

Brad, Rich, and I went back last night, all night to find Kyndall.

I'll write the update when I get to the office today. I'm running on 4 hours of sleep since Sunday.

    I agree.

Bill should know that he could have discouraged the very people who found Nick last night, and Nick may not have been found alive because of Bill's opinion.
