What about a low priced Tablet? The Viewsonic gTablet can be found for $180 on eBay or about $230 new. I have one and it's pretty decent. Only downside I see is it uses Handango vs Android market but I think that could be cured by rooting it as well.

There are Kindle and Barnes & Noble apps you can run on any android device as well.

Here's an interesting option for Nook Colors. This company sells a preloaded SD card that boots the Nook into an Android Tablet mode. From what I hear, it's not that difficult to do yourself but if you want a no-hassle option, this gets good reviews:

I just ordered a nook from Barnes and Noble and one of the Android cards. Less than $200 and I have a mobile android tablet. Not bad. The good thing about the SD cards is that it does not void your warranty and the Nook can be returned to its regular state by removing the card.
I got my card from http://www.rootmynookcolor.com/
I ordered the MIUI which has an Ipod-like look to it.

Reporting back in. I just got my Nook Color with the Ipad-like interface. It is SWEET. I like it because it looks like the Ipad, functions very similar to the Ipad but fits in one hand.

I'm still trying to get used to the rootmynookcolor card. It has not been stable or helpful for me. Even overclocked-It won't run Netflix well...Surfing isn't great. Just not super happy yet...but I'm still tweaking.

I wonder if it's the class of the SD card. Perhaps a better class card would perform faster. The rootmynookcolor card is a class 4 card. You can get a class 10 32gb sd card for about $50.

No problems with mine so far. I have the "ipad-like" interface card. I am going to try the "android" card on my new nook color.

I can't imagine that netflix would look very good on such a small screen. I have never tried netflix on the nook. My wife used to use netflix frequently on her ipad though.

In regards to the memory card, I have read that some people only run a Class 4 (or higher) SanDisk card. I have read that others had problems with different brands of cards. I have a SanDisk card. Maybe that matters (maybe it doesn't).

I've been looking pretty hard at the Nook Tablet. I've had a 8.9" dell mini netbook for the past 2 yrs. I know it's $50 higher but the specs look promising.

I'm running CyanogenMod 7 (CM7) on my Nook Color. Just tried Netflix app tonight, it streams video just fine. (I did the DIY version, installing CM7 on my 16 gig SanDisk Class 4 card.)

Other than not having a camera or a magnetic field sensor, it's running as a full android 2.3 tablet. I figure I'll try Android 4 (ICS) as soon as CM9 is released.
