Does anybody know if the stock tow hitch can handle a snatch recovery with a hitch shackle?

I didn't get to meet up with you guys but rolled up a little later. Did meet Jason at the end of the day in Pollock. I'll have to hook up with you guys next time.
We ran across that 2wd Dodge dually..... as he was coming down hill, I'm not sure if his 4wd went out or what.
    Here's a couple of pics

This BMW was out there doing god knows what!

I used a hitch shackle yesterday. I have the tow package if that's what you mean by stock hitch

Lol. Droppin a deuce in the snow. That Subway sandwich hit him quick. I'm sure he was 8cm dilated and having contractions at that point.

You did extremely well on those tires Jim. Really surprised me. Also, thanks for the pointers when winching out my buddy.

Please share those pointers so others can learn.my memory is crap when it comes to names and details.
I think we showed that tow truck driver that tacos can do big things.ie pull out f350.
Winching really is just simple mathematics. But when you throw in stress and testosterone it becomes a whole other story.lol
This is why it's better to roll in groups. Never go alone, and unprepared.

Me!!! I wake up at 3:30 everyday and my alarm is set for 5:30 sometimes I can get back to sleep before it goes off. I'm an early bird! I use to commute to the Bay Area for work so it was my everyday thing but now it's just annoying.

I'm surprised we missed you going up! I must of been down silverfork rd when you went buy. I drove about a mile or two down it was the best snow with little to no tracks. But no one was up for it. I turned around and went back to the group. If anyone goes up in the next few days check it out.

I don't remember giving any pointers other than what they were attempting wasn't going to work. Maybe that's the pointer? Once your truck gets into a ditch like that 350, attempting to pull anyone out while up or down the road won't work. The vehicle will drag itself with it but stay in the ditch. That's why that tow truck driver had you get completely across from him. For those that saw the jeeps on our way down pulling out the frontier, they were using the same method and pulling from across the road.

The other pointer I offered later (and this would have kept you from getting stuck up top on that turn) was to not force your way through the snow when the back end starts to slide off the road and goes sideways. Ever wonder why I just drove through that turn with my tires after we got you unstuck? If it happens, immediately let off the gas. Then feather the gas and try and crawl on top of the snow. Each time you break traction, give it a second to see if it gains it again. If not, let up quick and go a little gentler. Yeah, it's fun to cut through the snow, but not at the expense of getting stuck. :D

Is there a way to get my LSD to preform better in the snow(some sort of wire mod)?

No. It's a mechanical LSD (2005-2008). Same one I have. It works well. If needed, you can click the e-brake once or twice for a poor man's locker.

Your absolutely right. But when I tried to go around the blazer my ass end when right in so knowing I had 10+ trucks I thought I would try plowing through.it was to soft in that ditch and I had no weight in the back. If I would of put more weight in the back I may of had more traction. But feathering the gas is one of the most important part of snow drifting. I would of slid in any way as I tried to pass him on the low side of that banked turn. He didn't give me any room to try and save it .I said to my Co pilot im not going to make this asshole is parked in the worst spot.its not the first time I've been stuck and it will not be the last.lol
I had a ton of fun. Good lesson for others. I no a few of these guys are new to off roading and snow wheeling.
