Here ya go. The first one was when he and I went. I stepped out and landed on my ass because it was so steep. The others (multiple jeeps) were when he went up with a couple of others. Transfer case on a jeep disengages when the motor shuts off (they learned that the hard way on this hill). Can't remember exactly how it happened, but suffice it to say that hubby got out of the vehicle on the hill to spot some rocks himself, wife in passenger seat leaned over to shut engine off when he asked her to, pregnant daughter (?) in rear seat. When it started rolling backwards, he tried to jump in and was thrown quite a ways when it started flipping. Flipped something like 6 or 8 times. Wife and pregnant lady were both airlifted to Reno. Survived, but were in the hospital for a very long time.

my lord thats tragic, just the thought of having to watch a wife and daughter roll down that in my rig is horrifying.
I've never heard of a t-case disengaging when motor turns off, that had to of been a mechanical failure or accental bump outa 4x. and if not jesus what are the advantages of building it like that???i see none, only potential disasters like this.

I'm 99% sure this isn't the case, i've driven/crawled a rubicon edition wrangler in 4low and this didn't happen when i turned off the motor. In fact i was able to turn it on while in 1st gear and 4low without pressing in the clutch(6speed manual) and it continued to crawl up the hill effortlessly.

Heck yes! You should come. We have a wheeling trip to Holister in a few weeks. You should come meet us all and make sure you like us before you spend a whole week with us and realize you don't like us.:p No but in all seriousness all the guys in Nor Cal are a lot of fun and chill.
