We drove up from BAMF World Headquarters in Benicia. Headed up 80 to Truckee and eventually to the meadow just above our camp site.

First order of business, throw the football for the dog.

    Down the trail we go.

    Launch the boat.

    We saw some flowers too.

Then off to climb some rocks.

You that bailed, failed. The food didn't suck.

Elk burgers for dinner on Thursday. These were worth heading up early for.

Since Jerry can climb, so can Riley.

Friday, folks started showing up as the day progressed.

Jerry cranking out a great breakfast. This is the making of one of the best breakfast burritos evah!

Everyone helps. Here, Rucas cracks some eggs.

MikeTG provides a little entertainment by shooting the cap off a water bottle.

Kayaks and paddle boards were available to try out. Thanks Glen & Chris!

Only place in camp you could get signal :)

Jerry caught and cleaned more than a few fish. He used a smoke technique to cook these up. They were absolutely delicious. Again, if you didn't make it, you failed :)

You could jump off the rocks.

    The 556 was amazingly awesome.

    Awesome sunrise on the lake.

    One clutch later...

    ...one happy Father-in-law.

All too soon, it was over.

I can't say enough to thank Jerry. He runs his business and found the time to put this camping trip together. Not only picking a place but getting the food and everything needed to prepare it together and then cooking it for all of us.

Fantastic weekend of nothing but relaxation with it's associated activities.

And Riley had a great time too. He's sleeping and has been since we got home :D

Good fun, glad to put some faces to names! Jerry that was really awesome of you to set that up for everyone (the burritos were amazing). Sorry I could only stay for a day. It was a really relaxing and fun day though. Looking forward to the next one!

Both. But it didn't start slipping until I got home. I think the rock pushed it over the top, then the horrible traffic on 80 sealed the deal

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone and especially Jerry for an awesome trip. It was definitely what I needed.

Jason, you're Half Dome story inspired me so much I decided to plan an excursion for myself. Not to Half Dome because fuck that shit, but to the liquor store for this.

    2012-07-08_19-29-04_321_17861c6f37bf0b2185caf840e5b6a52ab0987145.jpg

    Man was it delicious.

I don't know if you guys noticed, but the rode out had some boulders and trees in the road. When I was leaving I had to move two trees from blocking the road and Seth moved on rock and a tree as well. It was pretty creepy and reminded me of those stories where people lay out trees so others stop and they can rob/murder them. I was glad I saw Seth on the trail because I knew he was locked and loaded.

Sounds like I left at a good time because there wasn't any traffic on 80.

Yeah the trees and rocks do that all the time up there. some times on the way out a whole tree will fall on the road and we have to take the chain saw and cut it up before we can pass.

Dang! Looks like it was a great trip and one I'm sorry to have missed! :jellydance: As it turned out, my pooch injured his back so all travel is on hold for the time being until we get him better. Thanks OP for letting us know about this area. I'll definitely be putting it on my list of places to check out.

Yeah, but these looked like they were staged. They were laid directly across the road so you couldn't pass at all and the three rocks were in a line. That wouldn't be possible if they just rolled down. They were easy to move, but unnerving.

Thanks man I have a Mod doing some cleaning of the thread so that will be taken care of.

On another note i just talked to me Uncle and it was not them that did the road block. The old man in the willies JEEP was pissed we were there ( he's been coming there sense the 70's and hates it when there is groups more then just one family) and when they seen him leaving he told my uncle good luck to those kids trying to get out of here .
