That thing is sweet. I may add one to my new rear bumper.

I should know in the next couple of days. If I can't make the caravan, I'm hoping I can meet you guys in Moab. But a lot of "what ifs" at this point

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
Stopped by Jerry's shop this week for the shock relocate. He suggested I check in here.

As it stands now, it looks like I'm wheeling solo to Moab. But since my itinerary seems similar to y'all's, I figure I would at least give some consideration to tagging along.

    Few questions:
    1) I don't have time to read or even skim the whole thread. Which posts should I pay attention to for info?
    2) Got room for one more? It's just my 6yo son and me.
    3) Any interest in routing suggestions? I know the area from Capitol Reef on west, and could give some pointers on places to see (or avoid) (Bryce and Capitol Reef are overrated, and Grand Staircase-Escalante is underrated......for example).
    4) Where/when are y'all passing through/shutting down in/around Vegas?

Joining you or not, I'll see y'all in Moab!

We will be passing north of Vegas on the 23rd. All you need to look at is the OP (original post page 1) That has everything laid out that we are planning on doing. You are welcome to tag along!

@Mach375 When would you be leaving? If I can't get my rig done by Sat I'm probably going to be riding solo as well.

Joining y'all on your way through Vegas. Hike The Narrows with you, then split from the group that night or the next morning (depending on time) (if next morning, then I'll split at Bryce).
    From there:
    UT-12 east to Boulder, UT.
Leave Boulder via Burr Trail southeast toward Bullfrog (depending on time, may take Noton Rd. south along the Waterpocket Fold).
Clay Point Rd. east to Starr Springs.
    UT-276 north to UT-95.
UT-95 southeast to Natural Bridges NM.
Elk Ridge trail northwest across Bridger Jack Mesa.
    UT-211 into Canyonlands.
Lockhart Basin Road north into Moab.

This way, I get to roll with a big group of badass rigs AND still get my overlanding fix.
If anyone likes this idea, and wants to join me when I split from the group, you are very welcome to do so (I'll be packing plenty of fuel [20+ spare gallons], water, tools, and supplies for this leg, so I may have you covered if that's what's holding you back).

Hey guys, I think it's official. I won't be attending this caravan :frusty: You guys are in good hands though, Jerry will be leading the pack.

But I'm hopeful that I'll be able to join you guys in Moab next week. I just have a bunch of crap to do from now until then. We'll see

Please let me know how the caravan works out, I may just do this very same route next year with my wife.

The narrows hike sounds like it can be exhuasting so I guess we could play it by ear. People might not be into two days of hiking in a row.

Definitely, walking through water for 6 hours is a lot harder than just walking for 6 hours!

I think this is the narrows hike we plan on doing.

BOTTOM-UP. The best way for first-time river hikers and those with only a short time in the park. Depending on water flow, this hike is easy to moderate in summer and ok for most kids 4 feet or taller. You can hike in as far you would like and turn back at any time. From the parking lot, it is usually only 2-3 hours into the section of Narrows known as Wall Street. Return hikers find it takes 2/3 the time to hike back as it did to hike in. Early Spring yields higher water due to snow melt. October and November visitors find less people in the river. Best light for photography is between 10 am and 3 pm, May-Sept. Average hikers travel 3-4 miles up canyon and then 3-4 miles back. Bottom-Up hikers are only permitted to hike as far north as Big Springs. Accessible almost all year. Starting point is the Temple of Sinawava. You'll need to ride the shuttle into Zion Canyon, to Temple of Sinawava, and that takes about 45 minutes during the summer season.

We could always hit up the visitors center in capital reef and then pick something to do.

There is no way I could do this this year but it sounds like a blast. What would be the minimum rig requirements for a trip like this?

From what I understand moab has trails for every level of wheeler and rig. It would probably be nice to have at least rock sliders though for piece of mind.
