No title. Dumb question, but how does that work with the DMV?

 

Very annoying process, and I’m probably fuzzy on the details but if its out of the system its actually easier. Need to fill out some forms, provide proof of ownership/ make sure its not stolen, and pay to get it licensed and registered. Still needs to go through the usual smog and i believe ref inspections too. If its still in the system, you could end up paying years of back fees/ registrstion (if its not stolen) And pay to re-title it in your name.

 

Thanks, that would been enough to steer me away. Imagine getting to DMV and finding out the name on bill of sale does not match name of last registered owner.

 

If'n there's anybody here that thinks that vehicle has about 40,000 miles on it fer realzies, I'd like to sell you a bridge or two at a really good price. (For a premium price, I'll even sell you an invisible bridge to Hawaii. Shhh! Nobody else can know about it.)

Honestly one of these days ill stop being lazy and just pull the diff out of the axle and trash the axle. Most people just want the diff. Been working like crazy lately so no real time to do shit these days.

if it’s truly out of the system it’s easy. If they have any record at all your f***ed. The fj40 I bought (circa 2002) was not in the system. No plates nothing. Quick trip to the dmv and 1 hour later I had plates and registration. Need a bill of sale and a copy of the check.

good point, if the electronics in dash are all fried it gets expensive. Probably better as a parts truck for a pre-runner? Or a rear ended frame swap
