A lot of crap and too much money spent
Jackery site has some of the info. My wife took the jackery 500 and ARB fridge on a day trip with the kids. Left at 8am arrived at home around 4-5pm and the jackery was at 66% battery life left. On the site it mentions 9hrs run time for a mini fridge.

Plus depending on which model you get, you can do pass through charging via the DC port. Charge up while you drive to camp and then switch over to Solar!

No this is a 12V fridge/freezer. They call it an e-kooler but it has a compressor.

I have questions about running a fridge without power packs. You can PM me or direct me to a thread if there is one. I don't plan on getting a power station or solar panels. I'm looking at a fridge for my prerunner since the last small bag of ice I bought was $6.00. Our typical run is drive all day and motel at night. Would the single battery of the truck be up to the task of keeping beverages cold for the weekend? This cooler from costco is in the affordable price range.

If you're staying in a motel, plug the fridge in to the motel wall at night, and use your cigarette lighter while the truck is running.

Forgot to mention 05 Tacoma with factory inverter wired into cab where cooler would be. So not plugged 12v, would be 120w (is that right?)

IIRC, its better to run off 12v than to use the factory inverter on AC power.

Better for the fridge or car? I run the inverter every mile off-roading to keep the iPad charged for navigation.

If you plan to go this route, I highly recommend upgrading your battery to one with a bigger capacity but yes, you can leave your fridge powered overnight from a battery. To clarify, I know you can do this with a bigger battery (my northstar 31m deep cycle agm battery can power the fridge without starting the truck/no solar for 2-3 days easily), not positive with a stock battery.

Both, those fridge freezers are designed to run on DC, when you run them on AC from your trucks AC inverter, you are converting DC power from your battery or solar to AC, just for the fridge to convert it back to DC power in order to run.

if you assume a minimal loss and say 95% efficiency when converting to AC the 1st time, and minimal loss again 95% converting to DC, you have a 9.75% power loss for no reason, but typical loss of power on an inverter is closer to 20% in both directions so .80*.80= 64% of your original power is all you would get.

and an inverter in your vehicle usually has very poor quality of power output which is also hard on the components in your fridge.

also insert Ipad in place of fridge same thing

I think this is how it works-

If your fridge is like mine it’s compressor etc runs on 12 volt.

If you run it off an inverter your taking 12v and making it 120 and then turning it back into 12 volt.

Each voltage change creates waste. It’s super inefficient and will run your battery down much faster than if you just ran it off 12 volt.

Before I got my tacoma I seriously considered getting a 2006 or order Outback XT manual.
I looked for about 6 months and then realized the Tacoma would better suit my needs and finding that exact car wasn’t going well.

I probably could have found one if I looked longer. But that car wouldn’t take me to most the places my truck does.

A bit off topic, sorry in advance... But... If I have a Jackery, will I get the same run time for my ARB fridge if I run AC vs DC from the power pack? Haven't done any tests yet. Usually charge the Jackery with my bed inverter when traveling and run accessories off 12v outlet and fridge on the 110v
