You can have them for free. I'd rather someone used them than have to toss em. I think they new ones I got were like $47 or something. I have no idea how good the reflecters are or anything like that.

I'm going to replace my bumper in about 6 months too. If you're still looking around that time I'll get in touch.

How did the added weight affect the tailgate assist? did you install the steel cap as well?

No I just installed the flat ribbed reinforcement , I chose not to buy the cap as I have a camper shell that sealed well and I didn't want to chance it that it might leak or something. It definitely ties the tailgate together giving it shear strength and heft. It made the tailgate heavier and I don't have any tailgate assist installed. I don't often, but I can still drop it, the cables are strong enough in my opinion.

This is my 07, since sold. no reinforcement, you can see the crack in the sheetmetal near the middle from loading ATVs and stuff

Oh my, I've wondered out of just the 3rd gen forums and gotten lost. lol

I ordered both and they are supposed to be here Friday. Since I'm getting a leer canopy in another month I'm hoping that the installer has some adjustability since the cap reinforcement will raise the tailgate lip just a hair...

It might seal better because the cap is straight rather than curved like the tailgate, or not? Because maybe the cap has a curved window? I guess you will find out. Can aways remove and sell the cap part of the reinforcement, parts like that go quickly.

Well the Mobtown steel cap is supposed to be installed underneath the OEM plastic cap. My thought was hopefully the leer dealer installs the rubber edging there so they can adjust to the change in height.

Your OEM tailgate cap is curved. The Leer door will be straight.

Oh wait, sorry, 3rd gen. Not sure how Leer might be handling that. Some caps now have a plastic edge that transitions from straight glass edge to curved tailgate cap.

When I ordered my leer they accidentally ordered a 16' model. I got a free windoor out of having to,wait longer. The bottom or the 16+ rear windows does have a curved piece of plexiglass in a "z" shape, if that makes sense.

Yes, it does. I've seen similar on caps on other truck brands. I have no idea why they didnt' do it for 2nd gens. It is a subtle curve, but it is there.

But IDGAF because I have a Relentless gate plate. That does mess with closure height wise a tiny bit, but it hasn't leaked. I'm going to get a new cap anyway.

It depends on what you want really. If you want something like the one I built for myself then it'd be about $375. But I can make one pretty much to your specs

If you want them out of square tubing I can (like the bed rack) and those wouldn't cost much, probably 80-90bucks for a couple of them I think of the top of my head
