Yeah, but you sank like $75,308 into it. And it had twice as much engine.

Holy balls that's tempting right there. What would a wrecking yard take to accept it without say an Engine and suspension in it :D

Edit, nvm thought it said 4x4. Was gonna for sure steal the engine and CV's lol. Don't want anything else out of it

    Wow!

But I don't understand the money side of it... if insurance called it totalled, then the insurance company would either haul it away or offer it to the original owner. How could they offer it to the original owner for less than $1500? It's gotta be worth way the heck more than that...

Usually the way this works is if the owner wants to keep the totaled vehicle the insurance company has a "buyback" amount. Odds are the buyback on this is less than the requested selling price.

    IE :
Guy gets paid out 16k for the truck with an offer of a 1k buyback , he then can keep the truck, sell it for 1500.00 and get a check for 15k from the ins. company. The benefit is keeping the parts he wants to pull off of it and make some money. If he cant sell it he will let the ins take it and get the full 16k .

I have gone through this a few times myself, and since I mod the hell out of everything I own I always take the buyback, strip the parts back off and sell the shell as parts or send to the scrap bin.

Cool -- appreciate the insight. I guess I was just confused/amazed that the buyback could be less than $1500 on something that seems like it's got a lot of good guts to strip off. I gotta start parking under a big oak tree.
