I don't want to get political, but switching to the metric system could be equated to immigrants coming to this country. The language is uncomfortable and awkward. Nothing feels familiar. Reference points are lost. But the first generation kids will run with it and have an easier life.

Imagine a world where we don't have to multiply fractions to grab a larger or smaller wrench, convert inches to tenths of a foot while grading/ surveying, or remember the numbers "43,560" and "5,280".

Metric is so fucking easy. In the land of drive throughs and microwave dinners, I'm surprised we haven't adopted it.

What was fun, on my survey exam, was measuring in "chains". WTF?

    1 pole=16.5'=1 rod
    1 chain= 4 poles =66' = 100 links
    1 link = 0.66'
    1 mile= 80 chains= 320 rods
    1 acre = 10 square chains

This is still the official unit for the BLM land surveys...

Was a kid in Canada during Metrication. There were some hiccups along the way.

HAHA! Thanks guys. My brother in law has mod days with his racing friends at my house too and they want to put in as well. But I think I'm going to pass. I don't think I have the room for it since I added an attic in the garage. Plus I don't know if I want to commit to it. Not sure I want to drill holes in my concrete. Not yet at least :drevil:

How do those lifts do in the elements? I see them from time to time in peoples side yards, but feel like they would rust and have issues being outside.

Wow. Digital fuel gauges programmed incorrectly. But luckily no one died.

People will definitely die during metrication in the USA, mostly in Florida from tire explosions regarding kPa to psi miscalculations, but it's worth it. I'm ready to look at the small numbers on my speedometer and hit double digits down below...

Or peoples heads exploding on how stupid easy metric makes everything.

I work in water and water volumes are so dumb. oz-pint-quarts-gallons etc and lbs/gal for dosage calcs :annoyed:

I usually convert everything to metric then do the math and then convert back to standard...
