    Can you access repeaters with it?

    I have a Yaesu 7900 in the Taco and also a Bao Feng handheld. Hitting repeaters with the Yaesu is easy. I haven't figured out how to program the Bao Feng yet.

    We could try a simplex channel too.

    Yes, simplex channel should be fine but I don't think it has the access repeaters.
