Welp…. Sounds like I won’t be too far from Ohio myself after September. Wife got a job in Minnesota with a start date coming up in early Oct. Looking forward to the northern Midwest fishing opportunities and that AMAZING ice fishing. Lol

Oh damn! Awesome. Life outside of California is amazing. You’ll have to let me know when you guys get settled and maybe we’ll make a trip up.

I’m so pumped! I’ll be in heaven out there. Family and friends are 3 hours away, unlimited fishing opportunities, and overall, just something new. We’ll have to hit a few spots out there after I get settled.

    Also…. Happy birthday dude!

    Funny story.

when I last fished Clearlake a few days ago. I caught a bass with witnesses. They saw me and started to chat me up. I was casting to an obvious structure. One of the guys literally pulls in front of my kayak and starts fishing. He was so close my kayak didn’t have the turning radius to get around him. I casted my worm over his shoulder and slowly moved past him, I warned him I may bump him and I did. On the other side if his boat I picked up the slack in the line, and Wham. Bass on. Hahaha.
I’m pretty chill fishing. This was no exception. I pulled several bass and moved on. They were actually pretty cool folks. The kid was a total rookie and haven’t figured out the etiquette stuff yet. The other pours his own swimbaits and he gave me a few. He was killing them. Pretty cool to watch.

    I got it on video.

It’s always an awkward situation when someone comes waddling into your turf while fishing. Not that any of us “own the water,” but we all have that expectation that if someone is fishing a spot, you move on.

I’ve had that happen a few times over the years, and I find that sometimes I don’t care enough to say much, or I’ll say something a little snarky so they know how I feel at least…. Just depends on the moment! Glad you pulled a bass out from behind their back - literally. Lol

I’ve been feeling like poop the last week, so I haven’t been out much. Last night I took my kayak out for an evening session on lake Sonoma. Bass fished for an hour until the sun started going down (managed around 15 bass) and then as the sun dropped below the horizon, I tied off on a submerged log and tried for some catfish.

Managed to get three catfish - biggest being 6 or 7 lbs. Incredible fighters that’s forsure…. Made me want to drop my bass gear, put on the ole “katchaser” hat again and fish full time for those suckers!

Clearlake was kinda Smokey. My eyes are irritated a bit. It was weirdly Hot and humid.
But the fishing was on fire. One of my best days as kayak basserman. Back to back catches.
I was squirming so much I gave myself a Charlie-horse in my left calf. I was rubbing out the muscle-knot while trying to keep tension on a fighting fish. I was in tears in pain, yes still giggling. As soon as the spasm subsided, I had a leviathan hit. Just a tic shy of 5lbs.
    Oh what a day.
