Come spring time I’m going to try to get out a lot more before this next kid comes. Gotta see this new boat you’ve got too!

Not one for drama, especially fishing-related, but I saw a recent video where a gentleman compared 6th sense crankbaits to the new googan squad crankbaits and the designs are almost identical all the way around/internally. I knew the Googan baits were more of a “hype” bait based on the kids who created the company and their fans, but still sucked to see such a clear copy of design from a company like 6th sense.

Video for reference if anyone wants to watch: https://youtu.be/vlYi4Ct084k

loved how Googan started. But they’ve become a bit over the top. By now they’re just selling the googan name. Much better gear out there for the buck

Yeah that’s what it seems like no doubt. I too thought it was cool they were able to band together and make a KILLING in the fishing tackle world, but stuff like the video I posted is starting to sour my initial thoughts.

That’s awesome. I need to go back up that way some time and fish it. Was bummed last time I couldn’t make a couple casts.

Hit up Clearlake today, fishing was rough! Got skunked. Weather was nuts had 3-4ft waves in one part of the Lake, this little boat held its own like a champ!

yeah, I've only pan-fried them so far. small, delicate flakes, people call them the crappie of the ocean. some people say they are good for fish tacos, but some people say the flesh gets too mushy

these fish have huge cheek muscles for chewing sandcrabs... so good!

Went out on the local lake today with the Wife. She out-fished me! She got 2 in the boat and had another 2 hooked that got away at the boat, I caught 1. She’s holding these fish too which is a miracle in itself as she’s deathly afraid of fish!

So just got around to watching this video and then saw that Catch Co. (Googan) responded: https://catchco.com/catch-co-knock-off/

Also I don't really feel like either group knocked off each other.

You can go online and buy crankbait blanks and paint them all day, lots of people do. They're all made in China somewhere and are probably all made in the same 2-3 factories. To be honest it's sort of hard to come up with something that is completely innovative and different than anything out there. Shit look at Tacoma truck parts! 90% of the shit out there 'looks' the same.

Just my 2 cents, and I know all opinions stink.

Last few weeks that i've had off i made the trek to Clear Lake twice.

First trip was freezing and the fog never lifted. Bite was great and between the boat i was on and our friends boat we caught 30 bass. Lots of 4lb largies.

Went back to the same spot three days later and the bite was dead. Weather was far better and warmer, caught only 3.

At least you've caught fish out there! I've been out 4 times to Clearlake now and have caught 2 fish. Both dinks.

I'm throwing two Garming EchoMap Plus units on my boat this week so hoping that should 'Help' me find more fish.
