Winds been nuts today! You hit your community lake? I’m really hoping the rain holds out Monday and I can sneak a lake trip in on my day off.

Went to lake Sonoma again this evening. Ended up catching probably 10 or so and lost a few more on top. Probably my new favorite place to fish.

Down for a fish taco meet! What part of the delta are you thinking? Haven’t been out there much but I usually take my kayak by Suisun because it’s close to me.

Haha it’s the best thing ever! I accidentally clicked my foot-pedal and didn’t realize spot lock turned off and we were drifting fast into the brush. Faster than I could turn the trolling motor back on.

only thing I’ve learned from spot lock is make sure you have enough room for the boat to spin. :anonymous:

I was thinking right out by Isleton. Down from the Isleton bridge there are quite a few large openings to throw some poles out (with easy parking access along the road too). It’s the main sac river too, so we could hook into just about anything moving through.

It also seems to be more “in the middle” for everyone. I’d be coming from Santa Rosa, some folks from Sac, maybe one or two people from Easy bay, kind of all over.

Caught some big catfish on hotdogs right by the Isleton Bridge when I was a kid. I'm down to head anywhere, but that sounds good to me!

Well shit...... met my brother out at lake Sonoma today. Honestly the day started out super “blah.” Brothers kayak had a hole in it, it rained on and off, and the one spot I knew we would likely have the best luck from the bank, yeah there was a boat RIGHT ON the spot and they were hammering the bass.

Things changed when I hooked into a monster 5lb+ largemouth. Definitely the most recent personal best for me that I can remember. Absolute stud! Besides this one, my brother got a few smaller bass, I got a few smaller ones, and then a decent couple pounder right as I was leaving (last picture).

Make sure you go through the calibration for the trolling motor and also make sure the GPS puck is linked and it will cut down on your spinner big time.

The heading beacon? I don’t have one so it’s based off the head of the trolling motor. My ulterra is a 2016 model before they came with the little heading beacons. I can get and add one though through my Ethernet set up if I have issues. I was going to wait and see how it did before dropping another $140.

Ahhh! Okay, yeah I got one on mine. It definitely helps, if I don't have it sync'd then the boat just spins, with it on and sync'd it pretty much stays in place.

Welp looks like fishing is off the table for awhile around here with all the in-shelter changes going into effect. Sucks missing out on the spring bite!

?? How would this effect fishing?
Social distancing is fine. Don’t you fish from a kayak and if yes, just cruise on down to Yorty Creek.

The way they have it worded is confusing and makes it seem like you need to be inside unless absolutely necessary. And if you really do need to leave, to practice social distancing at that point. :notsure:

Here is one of the articles: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.kr...shelter-in-place-order-for-sonoma-county/amp/

Wow. I missed the “residents ordered to stay inside their home” except for essential. 2 weeks fishing will be pretty dang essential. Do you ever paddle over to dry creek arm? I have caught some huge (for me) largemouth there. Biggest was 10 lbs. Big ole’ white spinners used to be spring magic.

Nope but I’m about to next time I make it out after you said your biggest is 10! Jeez! In all seriousness though, I have only been to that lake maybe 4 or 5 times now, and have only traversed the yorty creek spot.

Maybe if the wind starts to die down I couple paddle back that far, but lately the wind has been brutal, keeping me to about the end of yorty before I turn back.

You drive straight in to Yorty Creek and never need to enter the BIG water. Yorty is well protected and easy to fish from a canoe or kayak.

You drive into Yorty Creek in Cloverdale and go to ramp and drop your boat. Park and go fish Yorty and then you can go out to the Dry Creek and go north just 1/2 mile or so and you come to Cherry Creek and enjoy!! Couple of great camps at Thumb there.
I used to be a Park Ranger there!

Pretty sure you can be outside to harvest food - fishing applies.
