I think I’ll be good if I hug the banks close enough. You boat guys might have a hard time though. Lol

Are there still marinas open to launch from in the delta?

Suisun City Public Ramp is still open. Hasn’t been that crowded, average about 20-30 rigs a day parked. I am here now and only about 10. Capacity for parking is probably 70-80. I think it’s $5.00 for day parking.

I was here. That was early Sunday am. It was shut down for a few hours. You are 100% correct though that someone drove car off ramp into delta and one person died, one taken by ambulance and unknown as to whether they survived.

i just canceled going once i heard about what happened. Figured the dock would be tied up with recovery efforts.

From what i read there was a boat taking on water about a mile down from the docks. They got him and took him for medical checks. The driver of the vehicle was deceased when the Chief/Diver dove in first on scene. Sad but seems fishy.

There were numerous oddities to be sure. The car was facing with rear to water as it was extracted (someone went a long distance into water in reverse). Rear window was broken out but not a clean break as though from recovery effort-more like an impact breakage. I am not familiar with the other boat, just the dive boat that ran the tow cables to the vehicle and deceased recovery.

Thanks! I'm new to all these areas. Is the water pretty mellow? I want to get my little 12 footer out to see if she floats.

She for sure floats! It’s a V-Hull so you should be alright but with only that trolling motor that would be the issue. If you got that Motor you were talking about then I wouldn’t be too worried about it.

I know I was just being dumb. By the time I got out to see the guy the motor had sold, so I'm looking at new ones now.

I decided last night to rip the inside apart and build a floor, re do the seats and make some storage, I'm just that bored.

All my stuff takes a beating IYKWIM

What size line do you use on your spinning set up? I found a rod I think will do me well for the time being but I can't find good info on line. I was thinking 15 lb braid. Me and the wife want to see about getting our lines in the water tomorrow.

i've put 15lb and 20lb braid on my surf-perch fishing spinning setups and found that it gets knotted up really easily... i don't know if its because of line twist or wind knots, or casting technique.

the latest tips i've read is to use 30lb braid, as it is the same diameter as 12lb mono. I've put that 15 and 20 lb braid on my bass baitcasters, but i haven't foshed it yet.

Mono is good for starting out. where would you get the line these days? everything is closed?

Lews is good. I’ve heard great things about those combos. For line, I only use braid for frogging in the summer on my casting reel. Otherwise, I use monofilament and Fluorocarbon only on spinning reels.

Right now, the main spinning line I use is called P-Line floroclear. Has the invisibility of Fluro, but make-up of mono and it can be found at all tackle places, including Walmart. I typically run 8lb test on my spinning reel and 15lb on my casting reel for the delta.

Definitely man! Like @jon_elc said, mono is great for starting out. It can do everything you need it to do, and is easy to manage. The more you go out, you’ll start to get a feel for what you want the most out of fishing.... sensitivity, strength, there are a few factors that play into picking the right kind of line, but to start, some Stren Mono or PLine Fluroclear is a great starting point!
