Fished lake Hennessy this morning. First time actually fishing it from a kayak... absolutely beautiful (and some of the clearest water I’ve seen). Saw a few giant bass, had some bites, and got one. Better than a skunk!

If you go back, go to the huge pipe that goes under the road and just stick your rod inside with a worm or probably anything else and you can catch ridiculous #’s of catfish and bullhead.
I got bored and was giving all away to folks gathered there. Probably 75-100 in less than 2 hours. It is a gas for a while.

Probably 1-2 lbs each. Definitely not tiny. Maybe I have just gotten lucky with timing multiple times but also told a work friend and he did the same. I wouldn’t make a special trip for it but fun if you’re there to give it a shot.

You should! It’s a nice place. I do wonder if that place gets hit a TON by fisherman though. Even just today, a Monday, there were at least 7 or 8 kayakers out and a few boats. It’s not a very big lake either, so I can’t imagine how used to the baits the fish must be. It’s also so clear that I could see the bass below and around me, so as much as I could see them, they could see me... which didn’t help. Haha

Trying to find some bass! New to it, no luck so far.

I'll definitely let you know if we go. I'm new to the whole realm of fishing outside of trout, but it's fun to drink beers by the water.

I bought one of these last month. Used it a Sawmill. Loved it. Can't wait to use it again.

How bulky/awkward is one of those in real-world use? Easy to set up and whatnot? Might tell my brother to look at these instead of an inflatable kayak.

Set up takes about thirty minutes. Allowing for inflation, and assembly. Bulky? Underway, no. For vehicle transport, semi bulky. Still trying to figure that part out. This is what I did with all the pontoon stuff. The frame I haven't quite figured out how to stow it simply. I need a valise of some sort to allow for easy stowing in truck, and at home. The only thing missing from the picture is the oars. They are two piece. Easily stowed.

My brothers and I went out to Bullards bar reservoir for a fishing/overnight camping weekend. It was wayyyy too hot to be fishing both days, and most of Friday we ended up swimming and hanging on a little beach/peninsula of the lake instead of actually fishing. We ended up with 7 or 8 spotted bass on Friday and 10 or 12 on Saturday the few hours we were out there.

For camping, we totally winged it. I had never been up that way and didn’t know of anyone else who had dispersed camped around there, so luckily I found a forest road super last minute that looked promising. Drove back a couple miles and found a nice turnoff right off the trail that had enough space for both of our rigs and we wouldn’t be tearing up any vegetation. Totally peaceful and good to hear NOTHING for the entire night.

Only one photo of a spotted bass because they were literally all the same size. Kind of a bummer in that regard, but just happy we were able to get as many as we did.
