May not look like much, but these are the best wraps I’ve knocked out so far. This stuff is super tedious and time consuming but I’m loving it!

oic. i want to switch out 2 guides on one of my surf rods, and I found a box of wrapping threads and a bottle of Treasure Crystal Cote varnish in my dad's garage. he might have used the varnish for rod wrapping or for coating painted lures, I'm not sure. so i was looking at 2-part flexcoat or prokote kits

prokote is pretty simple. 1-1 ratio and paint it on. Hard to touch at 8 hours, good to fish in 24 hours.

First time being harassed while fishing. Not even 10 minutes in to throwing my net for smelt, a security guard walks up and says I can't fish in the lagoon. Disturbing the wildlife. I say there are no signs here and tell me what law I'm breaking. He said its not a law but a rule, and I have a moral obligation to follow it . I said my fishing license and the California Constitution tell me otherwise, and no disrespect but I'm not done fishing so I'm not leaving yet. He wanted my name for his report. No thank you sir, I don't see any reason to share that with you. Half an hour later when leaving a cop pulled up and was staring at me, but didn't get out of his car. I left with a bucket full of smelt

Wow. Well played in your part. I’d call F&G. It’s illegal to harass sportsmen.

I was seriously like WTF did he just say, while trying not to laugh my ass off. Story would be better if those smelt landed some big butts, but only two shakers

I almost gave him the alias of Chad Karen, but kept the high road...

Looking into it today, the lagoons are HOA property, but surrounded by public paths. Absolutely no mention of No Fishing anywhere, in person or online

Baum Lake is a spot to check out, as well. I've never fished it before but now that I have my pontoon boat I may have to give it a shot.

    Nah, that was me

He never got close enough to actually net. 3 passes and would run like hell when he saw land/net every time. Good head shake the 4th and spat the hook. Dude was using a Phoenix rod he bought that morning for $200, and it broke right at the handle very next cast

Such a bummer to hear about the rod. What’s crazy is I know of 3 other cases where buddies have had their Phenix rods snap too. 2 of them on a snag and 1 on a big bass. People rant and rave about them being ultra sensitive and feather-light, but if it’s going to snap on a fish or a snag that easy, I’m good. Lol

What is it I hear around TW all the time?

Oh yeah, buy once, cry once. A good rod probably wouldn't have broke. Now he has to go buy another. Or sit around and wait for the warranty to go through the process, if a cheaper rod even comes with one.
