i've never been to Berryessa. (soon to be old news)

where is the launch that is opening? my google earth searches in the past had me launching near Coyote or Oak Shores..where the long ramp is.

Says markley cove and spanish flats will open first then capell launch.

Depending on where you're coming from those should get you in the water. I expect it to be a madhouse for a bit.

No ski boats and such now too so you wont have to worry about LITERALLY dying out there when you're paddling around. Sam and I did well on the ned rig out there when I went and I think he does good out there with jerkbaits (this time of year those are probably CLUTCH as the water starts to cool).

jerkbaits have been my most successful bait besides a ned.

It’s my go-to bait no matter what. It’s caught me thousands of fish and I’ve caught everything from carp and trout to Pikeminnow and crappie. It’s a miracle bait. Drop-shot is in that same category for me, but it takes a little more work and time to get that ready to go. I think that’s why I naturally go back to the ned - Laziness. Lol

tying a dropshot is a chore for sure.. casting one with anything but a spinning reel is an exercise in futility for me. i get it spiralling in the air with a baitcaster because it take a bit more "umph" to get it flying. by the time it hits water, it is a tangled mess.

me, i still rig my Neds "texas style" bobber stop, worm sinker, small weedless hook, then a TRD finesse. this will change now, since i bought some weedless ned jig heads.

so..are we LIKING or NOT LIKING the Delta tides this weekend? i am really not sure what to look for. seems like an incoming tide peaking at the same time i am fully awake is the key? the incoming water has to be pushing baitfish in..not entirely sure.

i have time Sunday. tomorrow, my BIL thought it would be cute to have thanksgiving dinner. my wife bought into it all 100%. apparently we are bringing pie. faack..

im loving it. I will probably be out there Sunday. Would really like it if the tide was earlier so i could hit rise and fall but eventually things line up.

Thanksgiving dinner before Halloween?! Dang! Lol. That’s early!

tide looks good for later in the afternoon this weekend. The general rule is for black bass, they are most active and “stacked” at high tide. For striper, sturgeon, and catfish, usually the most success is low tide. You can absolutely still catch anything at any point of the day/tide, but in vs out really does make a big difference for the specific fish you’re trying to target.

With the below screenshot, you can see the tide will be high early in the morning and later in the afternoon for that particular part of the Delta. If you’re an early riser, you will probably do WONDERS out there in the early morning with any bait if going after black bass. Topwater, finesse, really just about anything will work.
