Total grinder. Fished 11 hours and we did. catch fish. Highlights. Got my first big hit on a punch bait. Stood there slack jawed like a rookie and didn’t crush him with a hook set. Got my first big blow up in a frog! Set hook too fast and lost him. Jig bite was dead.
We did our damage with Senkos.

I stayed covered up from the sun except my hands. I look like I have brown gloves on.

Glad you got into some bass! Frank’s is usually so damn busy on the weekend I never end up going out there. Sounds like I need to go back out there during the week.

Anyone going out this weekend? Ill be camping down by Pardee reservoir so I’ll probably bring a pole or two and try it out.... never been before.

Delta weather is looking pretty nippy this weekend.... which could be good or bad. Lol

the Delta is puking out weeds. those things that look like Lily's? they apparently break off huge chunks and send them floating around..maybe to propagate??

anyways, the entire area is littered with the stuff. and F&G has been spraying RoundUP everywhere!! lots of swatches of green floating weed patches are dried and brown. i wouldn't eat a fish out of the Delta for anything.

only sticks and weeds in Georgiana and Steamboat. Dodging logs and branches sucked on the way back sunday at dusk.

I dont plan to eat them anyway. Just catch and release.

I've kept a few here n' there out of the Delta... however, I try to stick to keeping the ones from near the Sac river, not really in that more "still" water down closer to Franks and those areas. Definitely not something I do often either way though... PITA cleaning them up and cooking them. Lol

in my sleepy haze last night, i started searching google Earth. i think i found a SWEET kayak launch spot at Clearlake!! puts you really close to some bassy looking spots..as bassy looking as it can get from some satellite image. i'll probably put a pin it in, and wait until next season. i think i am done for the most part. work is ramping up, and the fishing is slowing down. time to step up my surf-fishing in the meantime.

well, maybe one more visit while weather holds :D

I really wanna try and hit the Delta hard this winter and find the winter bite. Last winter I didn't do so hot out there. I ended up focusing on ice fishing in the mountains instead.

i plan to still hit the delta this winter. Usually when it cools off i trend towards stripers. Im just ready to not sweat my ass off while standing up front. Sunday was rough.

i heard the Delta comes to a grinding halt. i plan on hitting the lakes when i can. i am buying Farmer John's to keep me dry in the inclement weather. i imagine my lifespan is very short if i should fall off the kayak into a winter lake. brrr..

i'll dress like a ocean fisherman.

Yeah I have been ice fishing my whole life, but last winter was my second official year doing it here in the Sierras. Last winter we got into them quite a bit. All rainbow trout, but had a couple good fish break off clean (makes me think they were Mackinaw or big browns). Its beautiful up there on the ice. The deep snow makes it a pain in the butt drill holes, but otherwise its great.

I think next time I go out to Georgiana im going to throw on some deep divers and troll up and down the banks. I caught a striper last time I was out there on a ned bait.. 10 feet off the bank. They are probably stacked in there if I had to guess.

i think a white chatterbait with a yellow swimbait will KILL them. i watched a 300 lb man fall off a cliff face trying to net a huge STRIPER. i was just about to offer to paddle over to net his fish when..KABLUSH!! he went full Poseidon Adventure on himself. his shorts got all wet and came down.. total yard sale.

    he got his fish tho.

Heck yes. It’s fun as long as you’re prepared! I have some ice fishing fish finders and whatnot too so you can see all the activity below the ice. Helps target the fish and know where they are in the water column.
