Galvans are a my go to these days. This season I've really enjoying the brookie 0-2 on rio gold 1wtwf matched with a 6'6" 1wt Redington butter stick and the standard 0-2 on rio light line 2wtdt matched to a Loop evotec 8'6" 2wt. Sure my 3 to 8wts have been collecting some dust, but 8-16" fish feel huge on those ultra light rods. Also love to support a great family owned local company.

I skipped fishing today. My right eye is RED! I was worried it was contagious so I sat at home. Doc gave me the all clear over a video appointment. And prescribed me some drops.
I must have gotten hit while I was leaf blowing. :(

You know what’s freaky?? I messed up my right eye on Friday and had to cancel all my weekend plans. My dog jumped on me and her paw got my eye. Messed up my outer eye skin part and scratched my cornea.

You sound like a high tech instructor. I cant remember what lines are on my reels these days. Some are old and should be replaced, but never had a good system for keeping track. Most are floating weight forward. After that, bah, who knows. I really (reely) should do an inventory, and cleaning.

Wow. That sucks. That sounds painful. Mine feels achy, if that makes any sense.

I did wear ear protection :). So at least I can hear my wife badger me about eye protection. I’m not sure anything hit my eye. I’m hoping it did because a virus infection in the eye is way worse! .

Haha sorry for nerding out. My good bud fishes an old cracked line and it catches fish great. We live in the Temescal area of oakland but are also considering a move. Maybe to the eastern sierras. Where'd you end up?

El Dorado Hills, near Folsom Lake. It wasn't planned, it just happened we had to come this far to find a rental we liked that would accept dogs, and be in our budget while selling our home.

Be fun to go out fishing with ya, I would probably learn something.

Folsom Lake is awesome to fish in the spring and early summer. Giant catfish and bass can be caught every cast if you can find them. One of the more interesting lakes to fish in terms of trying to figure out fish patterns, but the rewards are enormous if you can figure it out. Good trout and salmon fishing in there too from what I hear.

Now that the lake is so low there are trout possibilities. Saw two guys walking back to their car with a nice rainbow one of them caught on the south fork downstream from the Rainbow Bridge/Salmon Falls Road.

Just a couple fly rods accumulated. Probably a small collection compared to hard core fishermen.

Beautiful but kinda rough fishing day yesterday. Launched in HMB, laid crab traps, caught rockfish, went back to traps and found them poached. No crabs, bait trap opened, and latch not in same place. Dirty fuckers :smack:

That area is where I've caught some of the bigger smallmouth of my life. During late summer when the water really drops, there is a hidden bridge (fully intact still from the days of when Folsom lake was a town) that you can walk over. That whole area is where I SMOKE the bass. Have caught a couple rainbows over there too, but wasn't trying for them. Its a decent hike to get down there, but lot's of good fishing.

Fkin lame. Sorry to hear man. Do you ever surf fish for crabs? Like toss out crab traps on a rod and reel and let it sit? I have been thinking about trying it. For how expensive crabs are at the store, Im thinking I can get a few for myself and save some money. lol

Yeah I went snaring last weekend for the first time. Was fun, but kinda weird not waiting for a bite or anything and just setting the hook. Caught a bunch of dinky Dungeness and a rock crab. Lost a few in the surf line when the wave push slacked my line. Homie cooked the crab on the beach and made noodle soup, was pretty fuckin good. We got there in the dark and had plenty of room, but by an hour after sunrise there were no less than 250 rods on the beach. Was nuts. Everyone was cool, but I don’t like fishing in big crowds like that

Yeah, it screams brand whore. The two piece Sage is my first fly rod. 9wt. Then the rest are 3 wt to 12 wt. Mostly 5 wt rods. The 12 is for Tarpon , which I've never caught. Had the rod in hand when 6 swam past the boat in about 10 feet of water, but no cast. They cruised right on by. Not feeding.
