The crabslayer guy is legit though. He quit his full time job to follow his passion, makes me jealous lol. He is a friend of a friend and when I went crabbing a few weeks ago he hung out with us and fished. Everyone with a keeper threw him their crab and he made a big batch of noodles and crab right there on the beach. It was BOMB!

To each their own and I certainly understand saving a few bucks but I feel good about patronizing businesses like his, and to me its worth the extra few bucks (if that) to support him and his products. It helps the good fishing karma go around

I'm also planning on getting a commercial license this year and selling live bait at the boats ramps a few mornings per week. I enjoy catching bait almost as much as gamefish so pretty stoked. Jack smelt and ghost shrimp for days around here close by, working on more anchovy spots

agreed. he definitely puts his time in perfecting his snares.. i follow him on IG.. i'm still on the fence to buy some this year... they are heavier gauge metal than my hardware cloth.. so they probably last longer than my cheap-ass DIY ones

i would recommend that you get at least 2 snares, so you have a backup, or can run 2 rods if you have something suitable for use.

Shutting down for covid? Looked and couldn't find any info about it. I know it closed today because the swell was 18'@18s and waves were pretty much breaking over it

agreed. Gnarly is the correct word.

on a positive note, my new reels came in. Battle 2 5000 is about 8oz. less than Fierce 2 8000. the 5000/6000 size gears and handle are less beefy than the 8000 but hefting 10oz. less should help me out on extending that end-of-day snare setting. i firmly believe that the end-of-day fatigue/reduced speed of snare setting causes me to lose alot of crabs. i think i'm willing to sacrifice the gear/handle wear for more crab

edited: the 5000 with line weighs 20.7oz and the 8000 weighs 30.8 oz!

Hit the local lake today after work. Just two hours fishing. Mainly to test new gear, but I didn’t get skunked! One fish. About 14”. Happy to catch him.
    New gear works.

I think I’ll buy a big expensive swimbait before the a-rig. The ganetral (or whatever it’s called’)

I’m taking the A-rig over a big swimbait any day of the week. My confidence with those big swim/glidebaits is trashhhh. After about the 40th cast and no bites I start looking at my finesse pole like it’s a hot piece of ass. I need to go out one day with ONLY a swimbait/glidebait and really try it. Lol

The Lowrance Hook Reveal 5. The simplicity of putting the transducer into my “Lowrance ready” Hobie made it almost worth it alone. Rigging my old Garmin was profoundly more complicated. I’m still getting used to the imaging and what’s a fish, but I got the buttons down in about an hour on the water.
