Yeah, I would have wanted to go crab snaring today but I had some work that had to get done today. Oh well, maybe after this storm blows through.

Went up ice fishing on Saturday. Was COLDDDDDDDD and windy all day but still fun. Took my wife and dog so it was more of a fuck off > fish type of day. Marked a few fish but no bites. No one else on the ice was catching fish either so I’m thinking it was probably the nasty cold/rain (snow) front we had the couple of days before the weekend that kept them inactive.

Ordered a new insulated ice shelter and a big mr buddy heater this morning so now I’ll be able to stay out all day and night when I go up.

    brrr..

FAACK. i drove to Ukiah this morning. about an hour drive. i am having a few modifications done to my kayak. i'm pretty busy, and i am also not comfortable cutting a big giant hole in my kayak. it is dangerously close to my rudder control cables.

the guy initially said, he can knock it out while i wait or eat In-Out burgers nearby..but that changed. someone called in sick, and i wont get it back until tomorrow. looks like i'll be driving to Ukiah tomorrow as well. BOO!!!

should be raining as well. damn.

What are you getting done??? And who is doing the work? I may just take my kayak up there and have them set up my fish finder and everything at once.

my kayak has a damn near useless round port hole in front of my seat. i am having that one cut out. (finger biter) and installing a big rectangular hole put in. the guy is tossing an insert that pivots up and out that holds two PLANO tackle boxes for free that some other customer abandoned there. he then take my round port hole and installs it in the nose of the kayak. where i can store my battery(S).

i can set up your fish finder pretty easy i think. drilling a hole into someone else's kayak is easy :D

i am considering going for the "first bass of 2021" on Jan 1.

my wedding anniversary is on the 2nd, so fishing will not happen that day ;) instead, we will be talking about our feelings. hahah.

i have my spot picked out. it is on the CA Delta. small water, really. i found a launch spot to paddle to a secret spot i found on Goggle Earth. damn. watching the weather like a hawk. i don't want, "first skunk of 2021". plenty of time to clear that hurdle.

    i know!! just looked!!

i MTN biked to my favorite shore fishing lake two days ago, and it looks like half full. it was shocking. the recent rain did nothing. we do need more. lots more. my (first) 2021 fish is unimportant compared to our upcoming drought season.

Got me a new Curado DC reel for christmas. Time to find a nice rod to pair it with! My brother and dad both use braid with it so i will throw that on this weekend. Time to scour TackleWarehouse.

it was weird, never had this happen before. but i was packing up to change spots and had my snap swivel clipped onto the foot of like the 3rd guide down, and i was reeling up the slack.

all of a sudden - snap! but i wasn't looking at the tip, and i probably reeled in more line than just the slack / bent it over too far.

i just slapped a new fuji tip on it after this picture. it's gonna change the rod sensitivity/acition a little bit, but i think it will work just fine

that sucks. i tried a new guide when it happened to me. it is profound how much that tiny bit changed the action. i never used that rod again. mine broke off a bit more. (car window..i know. stupid)

Red lake up past kirkwood. But I think now Caples lake is frozen over completely, Silver lake is getting close, and off 80, Boca is a good ice fishing lake too.
