Funny. These ig accounts must be run by the same person. They supposedly tag someone, but don't leave a space between "source" and the person's ig account.

For example, they write:

source@mademan925

instead of

source @Mademan925

So the person isn't actually alerted that their content is being constantly reposted. @jberry813 brought it up in one of their posts and was blocked. Just an FYI.

Jordan Duran, of Pocatello, spent a year of long hours working in the oil fields of Vernal, Utah, to jumpstart his business idea.

An outdoors enthusiast who likes listening to music on the ski slopes, Duran was disheartened by the poor quality of moderately priced headphones.

“I went out skiing and I like to listen to my music so I bought some headphones,” Duran said after leaving his other headphones at the lodge. “So I bought some at the ski resort for like $30 and they broke the first day I bought them. So I bought some other ones for $50 and they were uncomfortable and the sound was bad.”

So the 22-year-old decided to start a business that produce quality, affordable headphones.

Duran is a sophomore at Idaho State University and is studying business.

He started his work on the business venture about two years ago and raised enough money to bring the business to its present state.

A few months back, he and business partner Ethan Pope contemplated making their headphones out of wood and decided on a company name, Apache Pine Headphones.

The Apache pine tree is found in the Western United States.

“Wood actually makes it sound better,” Duran said of the resonation within the muffs. “Like if you have a woofer or a guitar made out of wood, it sounds more crisp and warmer, so we decided to go with (wood instead of plastic).”

Also, the headphones are made from an abundant and renewable material, as opposed to plastics.

Now Apache Pine has turned to online crowd-funding site Kickstarter for funds to create the first batch of headphones.

“To have our cost so low and to have a good headphone sold for a lower price ... we have to manufacture them in bulk because we are going to college,” Duran said, adding bulk orders contain 1,000 headphone pairs. “What Kickstarter does is they (pledgers) preorder the headphones. ... We have to buy in bulk and we don’t have money to do that.”

Last week, Apache Pine launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $20,000 to manufacture the first batches of headphones. As of Tuesday, Apache Pine had about $3,300 in pledges from about 54 backers, reaching about 16 percent of their goal.

The first manufacturing run will include orders of two Apache Pine Headphone models — the Sequoia! (an over-the-ear headphone) and the Bonsai! (a smaller on-ear headphone) and some wooden watches.

Duran said the way Kickstarter operates is that for a project to receive funding, pledges must meet or exceed the specified goal. If the goal is not met, pledge information is deleted and the project receives no funding.

Prior to the campaign, Apache Pine put together a promotional video, photographs and a website.

But even with the campaign underway, the process is still stressful.

“It’s been non-stop,” Duran said.

Apache Pine is starting small, with just the two models and looks to add other products in the future as business growth permits.

Locally, he and wife Kassy Duran have tried to spread the word about the startup through social media sites Instagram and Facebook. They have also attended local events such as Barrie’s Ski and Sports recent Rail Jam.

“She’s been helping me with trying to do sponsorships for local kids or kids interested in riding. So we give them our products at our cost plus 10 percent, and do little photo contests to win stickers and shirts,” Duran said.

Once the order is fulfilled, Duran said there are plans to sell some headphones at Barrie’s Ski and Sports in Pocatello and at a location in Boise.

“Another company in Boise, Brigade Wakesurfing, wants our products in their store and in their online store,” he said. “The next (step) would be taking (our headphones) and presenting them to extreme sports stores and trying to get them in there.”

Apache Pine plans to have a booth at the Pocatello Ski Swap this weekend, too.

Duran said he knew he had something good when he first received the headphone samples and tried them.

“I finally got the wood headphones and thought, ‘ah, yes!’” he said.

He said he has been wanting to start his own business for the last year, and to do something for the last couple of years.

But starting a business has been difficult and Duran looks forward to seeing the Kickstarter campaign meet its goal.

He’ll be even more pleased to see more people be able to listen to music through quality, affordable headphones.

“I think anybody who is an athlete can kind of get that idea. When you are getting ready for a sport, you like to listen to music that amps you up,” he said. “Skiing is kind of the same thing. If you are scared or timid, you can get hurt. It’s nice to get pumped up. Sometimes I just like skiing by myself and listening to music... being in the zone and having fun.”

Apache Pine’s Kickstarter campaign ends Nov. 13. The first shipment will likely be fulfilled in January.
