    It’s a little conspicuous.
Definitely some thing I thought about before going into this.

Thinking of doing something in March/April latest. Got some finals coming up over the next couple weeks, then a move but will be good after that!

I would suggest either wait until snow in Sierras has melted or try up in Mendocino area at lower level elevations.

On that note, has anyone tried Stonyford area up in Mendocino National Forest this time of year? Thinking of trying to hit it up early April for a camping trip with the wife and dog. She wants to find an area that has some decent scenery and hikes and I just want to get away from people and not pay $35 a night to sleep outdoors.

I have some basic recovery gear (hi lift, max traxs, shovels, straps) and definitely do not like to test my luck, especially going solo. Any insight on what to expect in that area this time of year would be really appreciated.

    Thanks!

UPDATE: I Went up to Cow for a day trip on Friday to check it out. I started from ukiah side stopping at the obstacle course and red mountain campground to have lunch. Ending at the creek in lakeport. Other then 1 jeep and 2 dirt bike riders I was the only 1 on the mountain. 20200313_154703.jpg 20200313_155152.jpg

Shoot I mighta missed you up there. Cow mtn's pretty rad, and you can have more opportunities with rock sliders. I am putting mine on tomorrow or some time real soon. Had a 92 pickup with armor, I'm just getting the 2019 in decent shape for trails.
I do want to hit up knoxville too, I guess that's the other close place for me, in Santa Rosa.
Either way, cheers, good times and we'll see you out there. And nice truck!

Anyone know anything about some good dirt roads up in Sonoma County? I'm heading up there this weekend. Going to check out a couple good mountain roads up between Hwy 101 and Hwy 1, all paved. But I'd be interested in running some good gravel roads up that way as well.

Knoxville and Cow Mtn are closed right now. Any non-BLM wheeling spots to consider around the north bay in the next month or so?
