Where are you in the Bay? My cousin welds street cars and he can do that no issue for cheap.

Would it be worth carrying spare oil to change after a water crossing like that?

If the timing belt/chain breaks how effed could the engine be?
I know theyre non interference so a 350 might still be salvageble but there might be smaller things messed up within it.
Also what to check to see if anything effed inside of it.

Ermahgerd thanks for reminding me. I JUST now remembered the previous owner of the station wagon told me that the belt needed to be changed at 95k and he kept putting it off. He sold it to me at 105k The car is now at 108k. Oh dear.

I know! But to do that is about 1500 usd if I take it in. Plus I'm working this weekend. Maybe I'll just drive the truck for a while.

Yeah drive the truck until you get a chance to take it in.
Best not to turn a 1.5k job into something more expensive, and after driving the truck for awhile the wagon will feel almost brand new so race car.

I just went through this exercise ;)

You are in SAC so if you wanted to drive to Santa Cruz, you could avoid the shipping cost. Pay cash, get a discount. Tell them you heard about them from me (and mention TW) and you might also get a bit of additional discount too. www.tepuitents.com

The prices are about the same. I made a little spreadsheet to help me. I didn't include shipping because that's driven largely by where it's shipped from. Tents on a Rack isn't on my list but you get the idea. I also believe most RTT are manufactured by the same company-components are the same, installs work the same way, internal constructions, mattress and so on. So it really comes down to what someone's charging and how they're going to support and service you.

I bought from Tepui. Responsive and great customer support.

    HTH.

Tepui tents are awesome, its what I have on my rig. The folks are nice and super helpful.

The tents are extremely durable. We went through 60 mph winds in Utah. Tent held up great

Anyone know of a good alignment shop in Santa Clara/Bay Area?

Just installed OME kit and need to get it aligned!

I'm not sure how easy it is to transports the tents, but I could pick anyones up and bring it to the next meet (if I can make it). I live 1 minute from Tepui and don't mind picking one up (not sure I could do two). I might keep it though so beware...haha

Haha my comment was directed towards you mostly. Let me know, I'm still not sure I can make it to the meet, but if so I don't mind picking it up. I've wanted to check out there place for a while. If I can't make it I could bring it when you have a mod day......whenever that day may be.
