Am I missing something with this engine or did this guy really swap a 51 hp 4 cyl diesel engine into his 4runner? I know diesels are about torque, but a Bobcat engine? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/4012398068.html

Saw a cute looking prerunner down here in Fairfield yesterday @Scotty.

 

Read up on it. I had to. Guys are pulling numbers of around 200-250 ft/lb's of torque from the motors. One guy was claiming he got 40+ MPG and could cruise at 80MPH all day.

Sounds like an awesome swap to me! I've got an old ranger I should do this to. Was reading they're pulling some of these out of reefers!

The swap kinda reminds me of the old Datsun diesel pickups my boss always had. Gutless for power, but the torque, oh god the torque. LoL

 

Read up on the smog laws. Swapping motors like for like is OK but once you go for something that was not in your model year choices, getting it smogged is a huge pain in the ass-basically, up to the DMV inspector as to whether it will be accepted or not.

Saw this lifted Magnetic Gray '12 or '13 with some black rims in Concord today by Safeway with the license plate "Skidmen" on it. Pretty sweet looking rig actually. Anyone know who that is on here?
