Awesome. Bountiful gifts from the tree of trailer knowledge. Thanks.

Probably keep it how it is for the moment, but def. upgrade when it gets closer to seeing some serious off road duty.

I am not a fan of Lock n Roll style hitches. I have seen enough overturned trailers and ruined RTT's to like the way a lunette and pintle limits rolling. My setup is not noisy. Guys use heater hose to help cushion the ring.

    ...too much shit to list.
Guess what made the Towing section banner :anonymous:

Each to their own. I don't like the loading/unloading back/forth. I couldn't do this with a pintle/lunette without beating something to shit.

For sure. Yeah I'm pretty good with cold. I've done some snowshoe backpacking and some camping with freezing night temps but that was all in a tent. I'd be interested to see how camping in a truck in cold temps would be, colder, warmer, or about the same.

That sounds awesome! I definitely need to get into that stuff more. I am a huge skier, but I want to really explore snow camping this year; camp by the ski mountain and get up in the morning and shred the fresh powder.
I am saving up money now to get an insulated sleeping pad and then a synthetic down sleeping bag that is rated to 0F, so that should keep me pretty warm. From what I have been told it does not get as cold here as some places like Colorado and Montana.

Yeah snowshoe backpacking is awesome! You get to just go wherever you want (safely, of course). I have a new synthetic down bag that's rated at around 12F and the one time I used it it kept me warm. My old down bag is rated for like 25 and I used it on a snow trip with night temps down to about 25 but I was quite warm. I highly recommend thermarest pads. They take a bit of time to set up and pack up but they are soooo nice. One of my friends has a little strap thingy that goes with his thermarest and holds it in a bent formation so he can use it as a chair, too.

If you want to try snow camping, Yosemite is a great place. You can ski out Glacier Point Road and pretty much camp anywhere-Dewy Point is one spot.

Anyway, I have to say I am a huge Exped fan after having a couple of summers on mine-it's 6' long (which you want in the cold weather) and fairly warm. I've had more than a few fall nights on it as well and I'd have to say it's warmer than my Thermarest. The key to warmth is definitely keeping yourself insulated from the ground.

Neither had I. REI allows you to try stuff out and one of the things I was impressed by is how well it 'cradles' you-so I went ahead and bought it. The first night it was almost like sleeping on a real bed-I was sold.

So I am guessing that you have the insulated one? I have one of the original blue Thermarests and the thing is awesome. I could definitely use a new one for winter though. Have you done some cold camping up in the sierras or where?
