I'm pretty sure that's because of the gummy grease they put in the planetaries. I cleaned all of that out of mine and repacked it with a nicer grease and it free spools out easier but I wouldn't say it fully free spools like you're saying.

Really, only 8000? I would think that with your rig and the situations where you'd need to use the winch you would want to have 10000+?

:p But seriously, how heavy do you think your truck is now? I seem to remember reading something like 5500, so plus gear, maybe close to 6000. Now if you do find a trail that challenges your truck and you need the winch, add the resistance from the obstacle and I feel like that might exceed 8000, but I could be completely wrong.

I think general rule of thumb is to get a winch that was 2x the weight weight capacity of the truck. Something like that, not exactly sure

I'm sure warn wouldn'tput out anything that totally sucked, but from what I've gathered they are made in China, not necessarily a bad thing, though my 12000 had China written all over it also. I've heard nothing but good things about engo winches. Mine has worked well, but i haven't really tested it much.

    1.5 I'm pretty sure.

I don't think there will be an issue with my winch recovering my truck if it needs to be recovered. I don't know what it weighs in at now somewhere between 5,000 and 5,500 I would think I who knows I IFS section was at least 300lbs that I removed and my front axle is not that heavy "Yet" :spy:
