I can't wait to find out what else the city fucked up. I know the kids that play soccer next to the stadium are going to lose their field for parking. They are also planning on gutting the golf course across the street as well as the BMX park an tennis club to build a mall and hotel-which falls into the needless dickery category in my book.

Will the stadium benefit the city? Who knows. What is clear is that residents are losing a lot to accommodate it and the city council doesn't seem to care.

my girlfriends grandpa poured the concrete at the new stadium, he said its going to be a shit show every weekend the way its all set up. Worse than trying to exit the stick.

I probably wont ever go see a game in person, im a huge football fan and baseball fan but Baseball is just much more enjoyable in person than football.

    It will be.

In addition to the stadium, about a million square feet of office space is being built in the same area (right near 237).

I'm not sure how the city plans to get businesses to cooperate with the parking situation. It's a huge liability no matter who assumes it.

They designed a stadium that seats 68,500 people, and have allotted 17,000 parking spaces.

Their excuse is that they want people to take public transportation or carpool.

They want to turn the kids soccer fields into more parking, and the public golf course/ BMX track across the street is slated to be graded and turned into Joe Montana's "Santana Row Rival" and 250+ room luxury hotel.

It's worse than that. Mayor Matthews seems to think building bus and bike lanes is the answer and he doesn't seem to care who opposes the idea.

Near where I live, they just took away one lane in each direction to add a bike lane on the left side of the roadway. It needs a sign to explain the new intersections and bike lanes work. Oh. And at one of the major intersections of this new "trail"? A fairly good sized apartment complex is being built-not sure how they're going to deal with the congestion it's going to cause since the entrance/exit is now on a one lane road.

The mayor is high if he thinks people are going to change their habits to get to the game-they just won't come.

I think this is where we disagree, I think every game is going to be sold out... but it's going to be at the expense of the people that live and work in Santa Clara. Property values will increase, but that commute that's already awful is going to be un-fuckin-believable.

Its a state park and is always open during the day, but most boat ramps are closed of course. I think there is a functioning temporary ramp at Granite Bay access.

I go out there occasionally just to drive around on the dry lake bottom, and check things out. Ruins of old towns are visible now. Wheeling isn't really allowed but fisherman and people running their dogs are always out there.

There are muddy 'streams' that trickle in that one could get stuck in, but no place to legally play around. Pretty sure you'll get a ticket for 'wheeling' .

    Here's a photo I took back in September :

I think someone syphoned his gas by punching a hole in his tank, not entirely sure though.

Ohh I think you're right. Punched a hole thru the hole in the tank skid.
Damn sure does look like gas stains on asphalt too.
