Took the wife on a Folsom lake bed tour yesterday. I couldn't believe the crowds out there. Must have been 15 cars and trucks at the kiosk waiting in line just to get in at Granite Bay entrance. Felt like a summer Saturday.

Ramps were closed, but a lot of boaters anyway. Dog walkers, picnic-ers, fishermen, remote control hobbyists, and one 'swimmer' that may have been looking for stuff under the water (like a plane wreck?).

Saw lots of Tacomas, Tundras, Land Cruisers, Wranglers, Cherokees, Broncos, and full-size pickups. Level has dropped at least 4 feet in the last few weeks. Everyone seemed to be just enjoying the day, and not mis-behaving (mudding, etc).

My roommate has a 2013 2wd tacoma and wants to lift it. What kind of lift kid should I steer him towards? He's looking at doing it cheaply right now and named a shit company that I can't think of right now for some reason with blocks in the rear. Recommendations for a kit that won't break the bank but isn't complete junk either?

2.5-3" with the OME lift. That's what my mom has on her '07. Somewhere around $1500, though, so define cheap? Don't do it wrong, that's all I can say. Save and do it right, especially if he plans on wheeling the truck. If it's a street queen then I don't think it really matters, does it? Just avoid blocks in the rear because you get nasty clunks and stuff from axle wrap, so I hear.

I've been trying to steer him towards ome but I was wondering if there was a better lift for a prerunner so he could slap some lift spindles up front.

All pro expos are a little cheaper for the rear and you dont need any shims to correct driveshaft angles. Got about 3.5 lift in the rear on a bcsb
