^ I was in and out in an hour and eighteen minutes.

On another note; with the camper shell I now have the Taco ass sag... Doing the research for an AAL.

Moditus is a severe affliction that currently only has a temporary cure when a new part/modification has been acquired...

Okay cool, theres usually someone there so they can sign.

So this is for anyone that might be able to help.

I have to commute 120 miles a day for work everyday so my truck is killing me on gas.
What would happen if i got smaller tires for my truck?
Like the smaller sized ones that the 4banger 5 lugs have.

I really reallyyy dont want to buy another car right now.

Ill prob make a thread in the tire section of TW too

Get some 245/75R16 Dunlop takeoffs for cheap from someone who's upgrading, and run 'em at the max rated psi. Everybody hates them - but the car manufacturer is working with the tire manufacturer to optimize for two big factors: 1. low upfront cost and 2. good mpgs for the window sticker.

Don't try and go down to the 5 lug size - they run different gearing.

Keep your foot out of the gas pedal. Biggest single thing you can do to save gas is accelerate at a leisurely pace and drive 55.

^yes, smaller tires, smaller contact patch, less rolling resistance, less weight, a more "road oriented" tread design, will improve your mileage. But not enough to make a big noticeable difference. I mean, what do you have on now, unless you're switching from 37" boggers to road tires you're not going to miraculously gain 10mpg.

I know you said you don't want to buy a new ride, but let's be honest these tacos, in any trim, aren't ideal commuters. Sure you can make some changes to save a few Mpgs, but tbh you're more likely to save more Mpgs just by adjusting your driving habits.

Im already driving pretty slowly and not putting my foot into the gas but i still have to fill up every 2 days.
Ends up at 500-600 a month on gas.
I am trying to find some all terrains or regular street tires, just trying to keep my options open

What do 4WP do with the take-offs from DSI installs? That could get you a cheap set of wheels/tires.

Best thing you could do is move closer to work-I realize that might not be possible given the nature of your work. But that would be ideal. Then comes wheels & tires.

The other thing folks do is get a scan gauge and set it to display instantaneous mpgs.

That can help you optimize your driving in real time to get better mileage.

If you're really trying to save gas, don't get an AT tire. Get a P rated street tire.

I'm going to be taking off my 31" yokohama geolandar ht/s on sport wheels pretty soon if you're interested. They still have solid tread

Get an ultragauge/scan gauge on my short 2 hour trips I've changed my driving style a little and get about 22mpg if I keep it under 70 on the freeway. Just averaged 21.1 going 75ish the whole way to King of the Hammers and back. This is on 265/70/17 duratracs, lifted and full of beer/food/ice/camping shit.

    @bj:

Max, don't get an AT, they will ruin your mileage, so go with a street tire. You can tell if it's street because the load range won't be C, D or E. Usually it says S or Q or P. Also discount tire direct is having a sale right now so look into them. The actual Discount tire stores will probably release the same deal this week as well. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/t.../www.discounttiredirect.com/thankYouSale.html

I would just go with a Michelin LTX M/S or M/S2. Great tread wear, no noise and ride smooth. Also if you are trying to go with a smaller size a 245/70/17 should be good and came stock on some tacoma's, otherwise 265/65/17 will be fine.

These factory tires are cheap, will get as good gas mileage as anything you can put on, will last a long time, and will keep your Andrew Jackson's in your pocket to pay for gas.
