What on board compressors are you guys running? A lot of guys up here run Viair, Im thinking ARB dual compressor but wondering if there is a better cheaper model? Right now I use a co2 tank but won't bring it down with me since I won't have room to keep it.

 

I run the single arb compressor

CKMA12 I believe, it runs my locker and fills up my 35's from 18psi to 32psi in about 2 minutes per tire.

 

That's pretty good.. Everyone is telling me go dual compressor since in the future I will be running lockers

CKSA12 is too small to do anything except activate lockers.

CKMA12 is a fair compromise - compact enough to mount under the hood, but still powerful enough to air up 33" or 35" tires at the end of the day. This is the one I have. Very roughly around two minutes per tire, but if I'm wheeling, I'm typically not in a hurry.

CKMTA12 is very powerful and will air up your tires or run air tools, but it's bigger and you'll have to do some thinkin' to figure out where you want to mount it. It won't fit anywhere under the hood.

 

Is yours powerful enough to do your lockers as well?

 

Power is not the issue. It only takes about 85psi to run ARB lockers. Too much pressure can damage the valve or actuators, thats why there is a regulator in the supplied ARB locker air pump.

When I had an ARB locker, I chose not to use the ARB compressor, because of all the problems I saw them have on the trail. I created a source of regulated air using an old Cadillac 'air suspension' pump.

 

Isn't the problem moisture getting in the lines and freezing? I heard a moisture trap solves it. Any other problems you've seen? Soon to install

2012 DCLB

Would really like a pair if BAMF sliders but cant justify the spending at the moment (have a baby daughter on the way).

Have done some wheeling, but hesitant to do anything more without sliders.

It's not about power - lockers require a *tiny* bit of air. Any ARB compressor can be used to power the lockers.

The nice thing is that the compressor is the physical layout is set up to easily integrate the air solenoids.
