Yeah, not gonna do that. I really prefer the 2012-2015 front end, so that is my narrow target. My attitude is that low miles, flawless, single owner, all maint records, no accidents, etc., a 2012 is the same as a 2015 and I am OK with that. Sell the wheels and tonneau and get something better and Leer, OME lift, and off I go, life is too short...

I actually DO NOT LIKE the regular Sport wheels. So even if I got a truck with those, I would end up swapping them out.

Gonna toss is some thoughts I wish I would have thought of before I bought my truck and a couple extra thoughts :)

    1. This is an extra thought considering the one you linked. The price is too high. Sure, it has low mileage for it's year but they are playing on that and the bling (hood scoop, chrome clad 18" rims, etc). I can't see a reason to spend that much on a 2012 used vehicle. Send them an offer for $24k or something and see if they bite.

    2. Figure out what you are going to upgrade/change and factor in costs of different packages (new models). Depending on what you want to do, maybe just get the SR5 basic model with a tow package. Or Maybe the SR5 upgrade. Do you care what kind of suspension it has if you plan on changing it out as well as the wheels? Do you really need the awesome (or not so awesome) ETune radio with Navigation?

    3. Should I have just bought a Tundra and spent less money upgrading the Tacoma? Yeah, I know most of the reasons for and against, but I do look back on this option I passed up personally :)

30k OTD is what I paid for my DCLB (SR5 with Tow Package and LSD) within a month of the 2nd Gen release. I would think you could get a DCSB or AC SR5 for that price now? Especially with the 3rd Gen likely coming out in less than 6 months.

Won't be a price break on 2015s when 2016s are out IMO. 2016s will be priced higher anyway, so they're not competing.

Yeah, I wouldn't pay that price for that truck, and I don't know anything else about it's history, anyway. On this particular truck I hate the wheels and would ditch the tonneau too, so those a negatives. And I am not hooked on a Sport by any means. The hood scoop is stupid too.

I've already thought about most of those factors. I am speaking of price in very ballpark terms, and I appreciate your input on that.

DCLB and tow package is a must have, and SR5 would be just fine. It will get an OME lift. It will get a cap. Don't give a crap about Entune, and I hear a lot of people bitch about it. The hard part is silver color. I want that. It will match my teardrop. Not seeing many at all, in fact this was the first that actually met all my basic criteria, but I haven't been looking seriously for too long.

For all practical purposes, a 2012 is the same as a 2015 for me, and I will likely have it for a decade. Just like my last two Toyotas. If all the plastic crap lasts that long.

I live in a largely urban area, and a Tundra is way overkill for me, and impractical for me.

    Fuck.
I was just thinking about that.

Never had a "build" thread either, not that it is much of a build. And it would be chock full of megaBS anyway.

So maybe I should do a Memoir Build Thread the day I sell it.

The Partner is awesome. It's like having F-15 afterburners that can be adjusted very precisely to a slight simmer. The burner diameter is good too. Very simple, very stout, easy to clean, compact. I imagine it will last forever.
