I am planning on upgrading to full OME front/rear and just need confirmations on what I need. Currently I have 5100s front/rear, stock coils and stock leafs with 3 leaf AALs installed. I plan on replacing them with 884X coils up front on OME struts. Rears will be OME shocks with Dakars. I'm talking with Wheeler's and Headstrong (both have done well by me in the past), and HS shot me this list for rears.

It's been suggested I get a 3 degree axle shim and install it with the Dakars, which isn't shown in the above list. Does anything stand out that I need to add or not need to add? I don't plan on replacing my brake lines as OZ-T has run his OEM lines with Dakars for 5 years now, and I don't offroad. I just need more hauling capability.

I asked Pete about the shims and their purpose, and he was trying to resolve some ther issue, can't remember without digging. I think I asked in his build thread. My takeaway is that shims are noncritical unless a specific issue arises. This stuff won't stick in my mind until I get serious and am not distracted by a million other things.

I think Dakars and 884s will put you pretty ass high. Not just acceptable rake, but, hey, boys, check out my booty. Oh wait, you have a 2.7. Hm.

884s with my config should put me at 2.25-2.5" in the front, which is what I'm looking for as the Dakars will be 3" lift +/- but I have a 225 lb constant load with my SnugTop shell and want to maintain some rake.

 

Yeha, me too. Cap on 24/7, plus med mat and some tools/with stuff. I want some rake so when I load up for camping and towing I'm not bro and blinding oncoming traffic.

Same, i talked to Tim @ DMZ and told him i plan on a camper and camping gear in the back with tools most of the time and he said it should maintain 2" or so in the back, looks like its dirty-fives for me!

 

Alex has a bunch of crap lol. I might contact deaver for the extra weight leaf like he had, if there is a problem. Im talking about like a small tool box, a full size spare and a box for my camping gear for mainly just me. The wife only glamps, so the stuff i would have is for going out without her lol

 

i want to run 35s so bad. i think i have room to fit them. Just need to set up bumps properly.

Yea im thinking on picking up a set of 32s or 33s just to fuck around on while i save money for everything else. Otherwise im just a 4x4 pavement pounder with these street tires lol

 

tacomgee is upgrading to 886s from 885s, so if the 884s can't hack it maybe I can pick up his 885s, but I'm pretty sure 884s will be where I want to be.
