Anyone with welding experience have any thoughts on this unit?? Haven't welded since college, but I did ace all four courses. Would like to get back into it.

Depends on what your welding needs/preferences are. You don't buy dress shoes to go jogging.
Arc welding is cheap and versatile to get you started back into welding, just not my cup of tea personally. Messy and hard to work with thin stuff.

Personally I would just spend a little more and get a MIG. You are going to be extremely limited on an AC only stick welder.

He's right. MIG is way easier. But if you can stick weld, you've got the skill to MIG/TIG.

If you drink as much as I do, you go jogging in what you're wearing.

Appreciate the feedback, the slag burning through my clothes is not something I miss. I'll probably just be doing iron, I'd like to fuck around and do some side projects. Just something to keep me busy.

Never used MIG. Is it versatile on what you can work with metal wise?

And FYI, Lincoln has it's Garage Pak deal going on right now. Square Wave Tig 200 and the 210MP Mig package deal for 2 grand. That's 600 bucks off.

MIG is extremely versatile. With a change of wire and gas you can go from mild steel to stainless and I have even pushed aluminum through a short liner without a spool gun. I think if you want to play around with making stuff for your truck, MIG is the way you should go.

Do they come in blue? Lol. I am partial to Miller equipment but that Lincoln deal is damn good.

More shit then I ever planned on doing
I learned on a Montgomery Wards 110 buzz box. Could only use 1/16 rod to get the beads to look decent and the duty cycle was like 50sec. Lol.

Right there with ya. I'm a Miller whore too. But that deal had me seriously contemplating selling my Millermatic.

None is AC, we don't have that here by the beach. It's all from the pool. $200 for gas to heat it and $300 for electric. Going to shut the heater off and looking to buy a more energy efficient pump to run at nights instead of peak hours.

Let me make sure I understand this correctly.

You are heating a pool...in California...and live by the beach.
