Not my choice, boss lady made me. Told her its off for the rest of summer. It has been holding steady at 75 which is comfortable to me. It was a fun experiment but not anymore.

That's awesome. I had this one in mind for years:

    image.jpg

Almost pulled the trigger a year or so ago, then came to my senses.

On the cover of Beastie Boys License to Ill, there's a plane with a fuselage that turns into a joint. On the tail of the plane, it says "3MTA3".

    image.jpg
That's where I got the idea...in middle school. I'm a big boy now and can't drive around with a plate secretly suggesting the consumption of fecal matter.

Speaking of childhood, I used to play with Transformers. I would have been pissed if my toy truck turned into a tiny home/ ice fishing shack, instead of a robot, but am ok with it as an adult. I love adult toys.

My kid just got a mig/wire welder from Hobart Brothers, says its excellent. its a 20A 120V baby model, does solid deep penetration on 1/4" plate steel, better than his buddy's Miller 140.

Hobart is owned by Miller now so your basically getting a Miller machine for a lot less. I have a small Hobart that I run off a generator for doing small jobs where there is no power and love it.

I literally have no excuse for not welding lately. Just pure laziness I guess lol. Finally got the 110 adapter plug for my Miller 211, have gloves and a helmet, and a 60 cu/f bottle of 25/75 argon/co sitting next to my front door. Oh wait, my super valid excuse is nothing to weld on, as I keep forgeting to stop by Jerry's shop to steal some scrao metal.

Next up is a bender, and then a notcher, and then a chop saw.

Even if all you have available is 110v outlets, get a 110/220 machine. 110v won't give you near the duty cycle or penetration 220 will.

His names Cody it's a crazzzzzy nice truck. I don't think he uses it much sadly, also not on the forum I've tried to get him to join! He works at the pet store on McDowell.

It's a beast, but this is an old pic and I have a monster truck now so this pic would go a bit differently.

Great machine, but it's a DC machine only. If anyone is wanting to get into aluminum work, you'll want an AC/DC TIG. Also you need to buy the TIG kit. It's an extra $400 IIRC.

Yep. My first welder was a Hobart 180. Squirt gun is the exact same gun as the Miller (even has the Miller logo on it). Owned that thing for almost 10 years and then sold it for $50 less than I paid for it.

I have a 4.5" grinder with a boat load of cutting wheels, so I figured that would work until I could get a chop saw, so I prioritized it lower

Good luck with that. It will take you forever to cut with wheels...not to mention a ton of wheels.

You also have 10 fingers now. There's a good chance you won't after attempting to cut some pieces while holding them and a grinder.

    Check out the build
Trick Tools is good place to get machines at decent prices. We got some at work and I've been playing on them. With some small projects on the truck.

I need to get a book, or something, so I can calculate angles and distances on tube. I don't like having to make it up in my head.

What kind of helmet do you guys have? I'm having trouble on tubes following the lines and welds arnt as good as when I do straight lines.

Here's the first tube project, on a Miller 212.
