The 40 Club is one of my favorite dive bars near the cabin back home in MN. This other version of the 40/40 club you speak of sounds horrendous....

Fuck the Sunol grade. Worst traffic I've ever dealt with, or at least the most annoying, and I commuted from San Leandro to San Jose for 9 years on 880.

    That train goes to WC...

Edit: Also commuted from San Jose to Benicia for 1-1/2 years. Sunol grade was one of the major factors in the decision to switch jobs.

I've worked in the South Bay on and off the past 3yrs. The traffic this year has gotten soooooo bad! I Leave at 4:30 am and never use to hit a lick of traffic going down. Now It's stop and go from Bernal all the way to Mission. And coming home forget about it.
The Bart station isn't running passengers yet. They run test trains all day though.

Left meetings in Mountain view at 2:45pm 2 weeks in a row. Took 2 hours to get back to the office in San Ramon. I agree- it's gotten worse.
Warm Springs Bart is supposed to open this year, so it may work out for you! Fremont to WC is only one hour.
The Montague station is a mile from my old work, but I couldn't hold out another 2-1/2 years and moved on early last year.

Phil Unfortunately that's not an option for me. I have to drive my company truck to work every day. mostly because it's my office and I have to be mobile in case of emergency.

I left my company vehicles (Chevy 2500, then 1500, then a Fusion) at the Fremont Bart station overnight many times. Kept a folding bike in the vehicle at all times and rode 2 miles home in San Leandro. It worked pretty well. The plan for Benicia was to get a motorcycle and ride it to north Concord Bart, then rent a bike locker at the Montague station for the 1 mile ride to work. Seems like a lot of work, but I could work on Bart, leave work earlier, and get home 45 min. sooner.
If you still have that 4Runner, you could park that at WC Bart and leave your truck at the jobsite. Drive it home on the weekends of course. If there was an emergency, you would still get back to WC faster and have a vehicle on the other end... It's worth considering. Plenty of time to think about it on the 2.5 hour, 30 mile drive home ;)

Thanks MJ. Sitting in traffic leads to desperate measures. Plus, I couldn't afford a jet pack.

I have a motorcycle I'm going to sell if you're interested. 2008 BMW X/Country 650 single. Only 7500 miles. Got it for commuting. Then, one year later I got transferred to a different site. Didn't ride it for quite a while. Then deployed to the sand box. Collecting dust now. File photo below. I've added some Touratech items, and soft cargo bags.
