Yeah all the new race trucks have the hydraulic jacks. On the phone, dont wanna look, but look up the Camburg Kinetix trucks, they've got 2 or 4 basically poles that drop to to lift the truck for tire replacement. Pretty nifty

I couldn't tell you how many times I used my high lift to get unstuck in my old Toyota. Just jack it up and push it over. I actually turned my truck half way around in the mud once so I could get a straight winch pull. Can't beat a high lift

Fuck, see. I'm stuck between getting a high lift, or a skid mounted Harbor freight race jack. Maybe I should just go with both.

 

Can't go wrong with high lifts. Although they can be sketchy ass fuck if not used correctly.

 

Actually last time I was in Tahoe I watch an old couple in a brand new Charger do that exact same thing. It was sad/hilarious to watch. When we came back from breakfast the tow truck guy was standing there scratching his head, trying to figure out WTF to do. At least the Taco would scrspe frame a hair before it got some tire purchase. The charger had a good 2 feet of body scratching to go before the front bumper got crunched to get some front tires on the ground >_<

 

Yeah the sketchy as fuck part I try to avoid. Like 90% of the coil compressors in the world

 

My brother carries 2 high lifts in his jeep. One to jack with and one to stabilize with

Really versatile though. I was buried to the frame (in my Scout) on a snowdrift on a trail just west of Bear Valley 7-8 years ago. 9pm, by myself, and no way I could dig out. Used the Hi-lift recovery kit and the jack to pull the truck out. Didn't actually "pull" it out, but got enough tension on the chain & strap so I could reverse incrementally- about 6" at a time. Took about 1/2 hour.

Did the "lift and push" method with my buddy's old FJ40 in high school. His super swappers were great for Louisiana gumbo, but sucked for the "snot on hard pack" we have around here. Sketchy as fuck, but I was young and nimble then. Also invincible.

 

Thats not a bad idea either

 

A) I give excellent OTPHJs, and for personal home work like that, I'd upgrade you to VIP UTPHJs.
B) Huge difference between paying someone to do an electrical job vs removing some body panels. IMO Electrical work is skilled labor, wheras I figured out how to remove my front fenders on my own in about an hour (the first time) by just taking a drill gun to everything attached, didnt leave a scratch. Still not worth $200 in my book. Hence, why I did it myself, so no real issue there.
3) I honestly have no idea what to pay someone for electrical work. Where I want the plug at is just under the main house box outside, but about 15' down the wall from the in garage circuit breaker box where the dryer CB is. Could be as simple as running it from the box outside through the wall, or as hard as running new wiring from the box in the garage, to my work bench. I dont want exposed wiring or cabling along the wall.

 

when your ready to get it done let me know. I can do it. it's not easy to find the time, but if your in no hurry , we can find time somewhere.
