Whoa. That thing is a beast.

The ranger didn't say it was official. I didn't ask when it would reopen, but I'm guessing after the rains due to potential soil instability.

its a 17.5" f/5 Discoverry truss dobson... thats medium-large, I have friends with 22" and 24" dobs.... big light buckets. one guy I knew had a 30" but it required its own 'wells cargo' trailer to haul it around, towed behind a Suburban, and was such a big job to set up that he was only using it a couple times a year so he sold it, trailer included.

I swear tho, astronomy gear expands to fill the space available. This is my load now, with my Tacoma...

before, i could fit all my astro gear AND camping gear for a week in my volvo wagon...

Hahah yeah Johnny is a fun guy. A little gruff at first until you get to know him. That whole crew is fun to hang with. Did he tell you what "Big D" means? We were laughing our asses off when he had Siri start calling him the full name and then couldn't change it back because we kept yelling it everytime he tried to. Good times.

Yeah I had just got back from running samples and I guess he was trying to get up off the floor from taping the air horn underneath and I was completely oblivious. Sat down and realized something was up because my chair was to high. Gave Johnny a solid 'Well Played' for that one, he got me good lol. I should he seeing him again this weekend, so revenge will be mine :spy:

Also, fun fact from that evening, if you have Siri change your name to something, it changes all your emails to that name. So, Ill just throw out a random name, Big Dick Johnny D, your emails sent out will reflect that name change .

gear people...im looking into getting gears for the mini van. The hill climbs and initial acceleration has slowed a bit and want to regain that, also any "performance" value i can squeeze i will.

    4.88s?

What size tires do you have? And what's your gearing at now?

If you drive it a lot and it's your DD, I'd think about 4.56s.

its definitely my DD, 300 miles a week in it. I've thought about the 4.56 as well, its not terrible now but an improvement would greatly help.
