Oh btw, that hook is my anti tailgate device. It was a gift from a member of my cycling club. He got it online somewhere. It's 14 pounds. :D

Thanks Seth. Wasn't sure if there were alternate spots for different years since mine is three years difference.

For her safety I wish I can convince her but I think I already popped the air out of her potato chip bag when I showed her my switch and she went to hers and it wasn't there. She said she will find out how to use the 4wd and let me know.

I would go back. It's not done. He said 4wd and it's not. That means he lied which means he defrauded her. I'm pretty sure he will understand those words. Especially when you talk about turning his ass into the DMV (who licenses dealers/sales people).

Do not let her stubbornness screw her over :( Help he return the truck or make a huge fuss about it if it is the dealer. I hate dealers.

Unfortunately for all 2nd gen Tacomas the switch is in the same place. Its worth a try to go back to the dealer and raise a stink.

Was it a Toyota dealer or one of those used car only places?

It's a dealership, not sure if it's a TOYOTA dealership. I can find out on Wed. I'll look at the window sticker thingy they put on when you buy a car.

And I recommended she go back. But she won't. She's the type that doesn't like to cause trouble or stir things up. And maybe she blames herself for this, for not knowing...

I just hope that she realizes what she has and won't try to go to Tahoe thinking it's going to be safe without chains.

    Dear Lady,

You have been duped. A twisted man from an unglorified culture has managed to pull the shades over your eyes. Or so you thought... For the internet is with you! We shall take your hand, and guide you back to the lair from which this monstrosity was conceived. We shall write letters and make phone calls, about how you were sold a truck under false pretenses! We will shit on his door step, wipe butter on his threshold, and feed the birds hanging inside his parking lot ex-lax!

It's not 4WD, don't waste your money on what you don't want.

    The End?

Ummm...You're KAMIKAZE ERIC, this is a sweet tiny little lady we are talking about here. Plus she has stock tires.

Awww this is sweet and funny at the same time. :p

2007, SR5 (that I know, I saw the emblem and the chrome front) 93k miles, $18k. Is that price in the line of a 2wd? She kept asking if she got a good price.

Way too much. I paid 16500 for my 2007 Access Cab with 109k miles back in 2010 (V6, SR5)

Had it been 4WD. If it's a 2007, from a dealership, I could see the dealership accepting an offer of around 16k right now.

What dealership?! I had a very bad experience at Antioch (where the salesman told me, "what about a Prius? Lots of women really love the Prius and you don't really need a truck!" ) but a good one in Walnut Creek (where my friend, also female, has bought 3 Tacomas).

That's so terrible. I don't even know that much about vehicles but I want to go back there with her and set this straight. The paperwork should have clearly indicated what she was buying. Grrrrrrr.

Also, ask the dealership to show you how to "operate the 4WD"... which is non existent. They guy will probably say, oh, it's AWD.

For 4WD. Sure. Not for 2WD.

Maybe your friend might want one of us to help negotiate a return?

    .
We should all go over to this stealership en masse, I've been itching to run somebody over and leave a BAMF impression on them from my LCA skids, what a jerk.
