I am not sure. I sure sounded like it. At that time we were going to some of the legal stuff with couple of the employees and I was definitely leaning towards inside job. But remote access cameras and alarm are must these days.

I ended up installing double security glass on windows and door. Last time someone tried to break in to the store, whole door was smashed, but they weren't able to get in. It was definitely worth the extra money. Because once the security company called for glass break alarm, I checked the cameras and called the cops. Cops showed up before I got to the store.

Never cheap out on cameras and carefully consider where they go. Domes to hide them are a good idea too. Even if they are fixed, they appear as if they are remote controlled.

If you can, double coverage for doors leading into and out of the biz. If you have a cash drawer, one ceiling mount point right down at it.

Right camera in the right place makes a big difference in picture quality.

Makes sense... it was parked in a manner that gave me the vibe that wasn’t his first time parking there. Visited my brother for a bit who lives over there after stopping in the office for the day to do some work. I’m usually over there once every other week.

Side note: I tried that new coffee shop called “pause” right there off Madison (near that 3rd gen) and my inner white girl definitely came out after I had my first sip. Super impressed.

Nice! I grew up in fair oaks and lived there til about 10 years ago. Now I live down the road in Citrus Heights. But still relatively close to there. Haven’t tried pause yet, but the restaurant Fabian’s is off the hook! Holler next time you’re in town, I’ll meet ya for a beer...

@K_Sandhu, best practice for cash drawers it to empty them of all cash/checks and leave the drawers open at night. If a potential thief sees the drawers open and they’re empty, they generally keep walking.

A closed drawer looks like a payday even if it’s empty.

Cameras above are a good idea but really for employee theft, depending on your POS or cash register you can integrate it with the security camera so it actually shows on that camera feed what is being rung up and the transaction details, so you can easily see a record of everything transpiring from customer walk up, to they pay and walk away.

Keeps bad people from stealing to much and the good people honest.
