I would be will to help, Tacoma has towing pkg so I could pull a trailer up from Sacramento. The will be getting organized over the next few days so we should know more then. Our church will be offering our parking lot for RV’s and our facility. This we be coordinated though our regional office.

Yes, gather things now to donate.

Wait until things are settled a little more. If you know of someone personally, take care of them. Red Cross-regardless of how you feel about them, is boots on the ground and helping, donations to them are appreciated.

Things needed: personal supplies (shampoo, razors, deodorant, etc)

Gift cards for places like Target so folks can go buy undergarments.

Do not donate clothing that you don’t want/wear. If you’re not wearing it, chances are someone else doesn’t want to either.
Give gently used PRACTICAL clothing. Jeans, t shirts, work shoes -ship the damn high heels (a friend who lost their home near Hollister-people donated her fancy high heels... can do much clean up work on those)

Restaurant gift cards are good too. People gotta eat.

I applaud your efforts to organize and will 100% help where I can but this is the only thing I do not necessarily agree with. If I lost everything and only had the clothes I was wearing when I evac'd, yeah - I'd take whatever I could get for the time being as long as it was clean and useful of course - especially if my finances were in question. Anyway, no big deal, not trying to argue. Clothes I mentioned earlier were already bagged and slated for donation - just hadn't gotten around to dropping them off.

Thanks again for all the org and effort - much respect! :hattip:

watching the news this morning was hard. Sad to hear the stories that people are telling. Fires engulfing people as they try to drive away :( Call me what you want, but my eyes got a little sweaty. So sad.....

My truck is not functional yet so I can't drive up, but I will put some stuff together for another Bay Area driver to take. I have a couple extra sleeping bags, young boy's clothes, jackets, etc...lots of stuff in good shape that the boys have outgrown.

I totally understand where you’re coming from, no disagree at all. I’ve been on the receding end. List our home and everything in it 2017 to Detwiler Fire.

I was amazed at what others thought was ‘useful’ and in ‘good condition.’ Close friends-not even strangers-were giving use their well-used clothes, furniture, kitchen goods. Much of it we had to toss because it was in such poor condition.

Regardless of how much was lost, people still should be treated with respect and not as a place to dump their stuff.

Ya... that's what happened when I was telling my wife about @Whitebutler s kid with the axe next to his seat in the car... my eyes were just getting sweaty.

That had to be one of the proudest damn moments a father can ever witness.

Here's a couple more suggestions for items to donate.

    Mainstays Deep Pocket Pillow

    http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Deep-Pocket-Pillow/20450258

Fleece Throw Blanket - 50 Inch Children's Blanket - (Colors May Vary) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0131MRTR0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_1n05BbRBRBXWF

May not seem like much, but when kids are in a shelter situation, having lost everything they own, something simple as having THEIR OWN blanket and pillow can make a big difference.

I'll be in Sacramento tomorrow afternoon. Let me do some research to see if there have been any designated drop off points for supplies identified. If you have heard of any let me know. I'll go tomorrow, or if it's still too soon maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll just need to take a day off from work. Send me a PM if you're still in, and list the days you are available.

    Edit:

So, based on this I'll make some phone calls to determine whether or not they are accepting donations.

    Butte County:
    Church of the Nazarene, 2238 Monte Vista Ave Oroville Ca. 95966;
Neighborhood Church, 2801 Notre Dame Blvd Chico, Ca.95928; Pleasant Valley
Baptist Church, 13539 Garner Ln, Chico, CA 95973

    Glenn County:
Glenn County Fairgrounds, 221 E. Yolo Street, Orland, CA 95963

    Yuba County:
Yuba/Sutter County Fairgrounds, 442 Franklin Street, Yuba City, CA 95991
Plumas County: Veterans Memorial Hall, 225 Gay Street, Chester, CA

Late Edit: Never realized it before, but a long time fly fishing buddy of mine is heavily involved with the Church of Nazarene in Oroville. I'll contact him straight away.

    Update:

Talked with my friend Dale, at the Church of the Nazarene, in Oroville.

For this Relief Effort they are affiliated with the Red Cross.

As far as food goes, he says it's amazing. Mass amounts of food is being brought in, so no need in that area.

This is the list of things they need right now.

    Adult wipes
    Baby wipes
    Pillows
    Diapers
    Bath towels
    Sweat Shirts - XL
    Sweat pants - XL
    Shoes
    Jackets
    Mens t-shirts - L & XL
    Hats - (probably knit type)
    Gloves
    Larger mens underwear
    Razor blades
    Shaving cream
    Nail clippers

Things of that sort. Not a complete list, just what Dale could think of off the top of his head. As you might expect, they are in a semi organized chaos there, right now. If you noticed, and you probably did, temperatures are dropping. I'm told it was in the low 30's yesterday morning in Petaluma. Up towards Oroville, probably colder. Warm clothing is needed!

As was mentioned by @Cuffs All clothes must be new.

However, if you want to donate GOOD used stuff they can be dropped off at the Hope Center or the Municipal Auditorium. Also, in Oroville.

I'll leave from Sacramento to Oroville around 3pm tomorrow.
