Whatever you do, do not buy one of those GMC Denali Walmart bikes.

Understand. This is where the get old and die comes in and when I told my friend to fuck off. I don’t like dealing with people.

And trust me. When I get treated right that place gets my business for life. So far that’s only 2 places. Muffler works in Petaluma and hilltop Toyota.

A lot of bike shops have used sections too. That way you can dip the toe without the huge $$ commitment.

They’ve been there for like 100 years.

I’ll drive to Sacramento if enough people suggest it. Kelly at muffler works always asks me why I drive so far just to get exhaust work done by him.

Always has cool stuff. From refurbished to brand new. They'll fit you for a bike. They do pit crew for a bunch of pro riders.

Forsure buy from a local shop, dont order online. I rode BMX for many years(edit: BMX consumed my life, i LIVED bicycles for about a decade), sponsors/team roadtrips/you name it, used to work at a bike shop in downtown livermore, we made sure to always take care of those who brought in bikes bought from us. It will of course come down to the employees at the actual location, but buying local is always going to be better than mail order.

I used to ride Bridgestone for all road bikes. Had a Schwinn mountain bike that had xr350 brake levers on and bars off a trials bike. Used to crash a lot.

I currently work at a bike shop, it’s been my job from through high school and college.
I’d stay away from Schwinn, the quality hasn’t been there for years.
What kind of riding are you trying to do? More long distance stuff? Group rides?
What’s your fitness level? Injuries? Flexible?

Not so much, had to get a full time job. "Professional" BMX guys dont make alot of money, basically had the options of living a permanent college lifestyle (sharing a bmx house with other bmx riders, no retirement, no insurance, no way i could afford a truck or expensive anything that wasnt given to me for free by sponsors). To continue to ride at that level, without riding all day everyday to keep up meant id just hurt myself lol

So i pretty much gave it all up to get a normal-ish job that made good money, bought a truck, bought some guns, got fat, now im here

That one's dope. I'd make a b&w print and frame it.

Alright alright ya guys got me. But if I walk into a shop and the first thing workers do is scramble then I’m leaving.

Whatever the pros suggest I guess. No idea what my friend has planned but I assume it’ll just be the two of us due to me not getting along with anyone but him. Probably just for health and fitness. Injuries none. But I do get carpal tunnel in my right hand. My friend on the other hand is a bit more fit so I’d prefer a lighter frame so I can at least attempt to keep up.

    I’m like 5’3” 118 last I checked. Haven’t worked out in a decade.
