Get someone to ride along that's never been but who can stack rocks like nobody's business. You won't need skids and sliders that way.

I’ve done basic rebuilds on a few of them (nose cone and rear needle bearings). I tried a full rebuild for my first one but F’d it up and decided not to mess with the rotor bearings anymore. Never torn apart a 3rz Sc but I imagine it shouldn’t be much difference.

Appreciate the encouragement. I should clarify:

Screw it means I'm not waiting to the Nov sale and just going to order them. Well, after I talk the wifey into buying something nice for herself.

    Seriously.

Go after the Jeep jamboree and they’ll do all the hard work for you! They drag a stock wrangler through every year.

    Or so I heard.

Thanks for the encouragement and I'm sure yall can understand, but I am not building my rig to be the one dragged through and tag behind while others simplyify the route for me. I want to put in my hours, take guidance, gain experience and dents if needed, and fucking wheel. I just started my build last year, after doing my taxes (which doesn't count the money I've spent the past few months), I cant believe the amount of money I have spent. Well, actually I can now because I love building it, but a few years ago I wouldn't have believed it because I hadn't fallen in love with this yet.

Now I'm all in and obsessed. I know I have alot to learn and alot of experience to gain, but I'm not building my rig to be "dragged behind".

Ordering my sliders and skids after the wife buys herself something! Taxes just pushed my build forward 6 months or so.

Both used the Eaton M50-ish blowers so they should be the same.

I ask because I’d like to powdercoat my supercharger but don’t want to ruin the bearings in the rotor case.

    How difficult is it?

Not at all. Sorry to imply that.

The trail is still seriously straining even after the Jeep jamboree.

Every spring (or summer this year) when the trail gets free of snow it’s pretty raw and as the season progresses it generally gets “cleaned up” (in my experience).

Not necessarily easier but less annoying diff rocks and such.

The trail is never easy but If I was to do it for the first time I’d plan on going after the Jeep jamboree. Great way to learn the trail.

Even then it only takes a week or two and all the rocks they stack are usually pushed around again.

I actually went the weekend of the jamboree and holy crap what a time we had. We left home Friday evening at 5 didn't get to loon till 9 and wheeled into spider. Keep in mind neither of us knew a thing of where we were going. We had to meet up with ten other rigs at spider. By 11 we started up the last slab (instead of little sluice) into spider. Made it to Rubicon springs lower camp area the next afternoon. Was really good food and great time.
Sucky part was my land cruisers was in a million pieces in my garage getting disc brakes installed so I was a spotter. Right after big sluice we met the south Korean Jeep's and there was three of them with two guys in each. We stopped off the side and helped them get all the way up around where the big stump was on their left (was our right making that corner). Passing was a chore but we did it .
Once we made camp at the springs the Koreans came too hang out all night. Those guys could drink like nobody's business. Hell of a trip for sure. Woke up Sunday and heres
for guys laying in the dirt and none of them spoke very good English. Made them some chorizo and eggs and a few beers they were back in business.
I'll never forget that first trip. Made to through in two days and still have the shakes from the consumption of alcohol that weekend.

    Sounds like a good time.

I remember my first trip but I was young. Didn’t even have my drivers license.

My dad had his land cruiser and his friend had a Scout II. Fun trip.

The issue I ran into wasn’t removing the bearings but setting the tolerance after. They have to be set very specific otherwise you get extra movement and it will make contact with the housing. The housing bearings aren’t too difficult but not sure about the 3RZ one. Both press out but some versions you have to pull one out.

I have strong affinity for unique dive bars. The first time I walked past this place I thought "no fucking way, that has to be a historic sign, there's not a snowman's chance in hell there's a bar in CA that sells weapons."

So amazed when I realized I was wrong. Thank goodness for the 209.
